So I rewatched The Final Terror last night for the zillionth time. You don't really need a synopsis as I'm sure many of you guys are aware of that one. Fairly run of the mill plot ("You know what that is Wendy? A mental institution" ) However TFT has a great cast, great acting and some nice atmosphere. Heads and shoulders WAAAAY above pretty much any F13th flick imho. Now I think this topic itself may be a bit limiting given the "weird 80s slasher" thread, and the fact there aren't a lot of those types of backwoods slashers to choose from, but maybe we could discuss what we love about these types of movies. There's distinctly two others that are easily my fave all around horror movies ever so I won't do any more name dropping for now. Anyone's thoughts good or bad are most welcome. Go.

The Final Terror was great, I'll have to watch that again one of these days.  I loved the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Biel and R. Lee Ermey;  it was about the only movie in the last 20 years to really scare the crap out of me lol.  R. Lee was such a total a-hole redneck sheriff out in the middle of nowhere where pretty much anything goes, and I loved Biel's character progression from normal kid to "I'm gonna survive this dammit!" badass.

I also really liked the first Wrong Turn movie and the remake of The Hills Have Eyes part 2, but those are more in the inbred mutant cannibal hillbilly subgenre I guess.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

Never forget Friday the 13th  :tongueout:

As for other camp / backwoods slashers, there's always the reliable Madman (1982) and The Burning (1981). Backwoods (1987) is a little seen slasher that gets mentioned occasionally. It is not great by any means but ok for one watch.

There's NIGHT OF THE DEMON. The acting is fuggin horrendous, but it does have a Bigfoot substituting for your standard lunatic killer gong for it.

Agree... Sleepaway camp is awesome!

I think the best is The Burning :)
