Movies that Scared you

I'll throw in the only good horror movie I've seen in the longest time was House of the Devil. You probably need a particular taste for it though. It's pretty slow.

V: The Original Min-Series scared me in my younger days too, mostly for the big reveal of what the aliens really looked like. Also the Disney Mr. Boogedy movies come to mind.

     I saw WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE when it came out (I was six); it scared the tacos outta me.

     At twelve, my brother Mike (who was ten) and I saw the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, and didn't sleep well for a week afterwards....it's probably hard for some of you to imagine that film being scary, but we'd never seen anything like it up to that point, especially with the hero getting killed at the end like that.

      The "wedding night" scene in DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT still gets me, as does the "grabbing hand" in CARRIE.

      I was babysitting for a neighbor lady one Monday night-she'd gone out to bingo, and just wanted me to sit in the apartment in case her two little kids woke up. I'm eighteen, there's a thunderstorm, and I'm watching THE TINGLER, with Vincent Price.
By the end of the movie, I had my feet up on the sofa- I was SURE that thing was in there with me.

I saw the BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE (1959) on TV when I was a kid-when the conehead monster broke out of the closet my stepbrother Jimmy ran screaming out of the room-and I was so scared I was hugging my knees and laughing!
.the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)-I was 19 when I first saw it on one of them old disc/record things-me,Nick and his sister Daphne,and Terry Camfield watched it about 11:30 at night. The kitchen table scene-I didn't know whether to laugh or scream. That whole movie f**ked me up. I have a problem with that-when I get spooked-sometimes I laugh. Weird.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Saw it first at a midnight showing around 1980.  Relentlessly terrifying, TCM is a masterpiece. 

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD Saw it first on a late night TV broadcast about 40 years ago.  Went to bed looking out the window hoping a car would drive by...

CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS reminded me of many of the crappy houses I had spent lots of time in working with my father, they all looked cheap and all were smelly.

     CSPWDT has a scene that still works on me, and I'm not really sure why; I'd rather not go into it.

Two recent films that creeped me out were:
THE LAST SHIFT and
HANGMAN.

Both quite excellent!

Probably the first R rated movie I saw, Sleepy Hallow. IIRC it had to do with the final scene.

The original Carnival Of Souls creeped me out sooo much. AWESOME and a bonafied classic!
