Why do they have hamburger fast food chains, but not hot dogs?
Sure- there are a few if you live out east- we got a root beer stand that sells hot dogs. Always filled with people from the old folks homes. And it ain't cheap. And the food is s**t.
But they have 50's music playing, and it's got like that Happy Days vibe...if Richie and Fonzi were 75 years old.

...

Because hamburgers sell better  and with a much higher profit margin.

Here in Germany Ikea's hot dogs are quite famous. People visit Ikea just to eat their hot dogs. It's the reason why Ikea's inside the store restaurants pop up as most popular "fast food chains" in year end lists right behind BK and McD. I'm sure if Ikea would do fast food chains on the side they would be a success.

McDonalds Germany tried to establish hot dogs not too long ago, but they weren't in high demand so they dropped them again.

On a side note, they also tried their hand at Germany's favorite street food Currywurst, but it flopped big time.

I got a strong deja-vu feeling from this and yeah

Why don't they sell hot dogs at McDonald's? Or most fast food joints?
That's all I would buy! A saurkraut dog with mustard!

:teddyr:

(sauerrkraut and hot dog on a bun wouldn't fly here even though Germany made sauerkraut popular. They just don't eat hot dogs in combination with kraut on a bun. That's a food taboo here. Go figure. However, sauerkraut with bratwurst -not on a bun- is a typical German meal.)

Damn- you remember a post about hot dogs from 2 years ago???  :buggedout:

You also recalled that I wrote about BATTLE: LOS ANGLES too! What- are you Data from Star Trek?

As far as saurkraut and hot dogs- all our fast food is bizzare imitations of other countries cuisine- no Mexican food I have ever eaten tastes like Taco Bell. Taco Bell is dog food. Buy a pizza in Italy- I'm sure it's not Pizza Hut with stuffed cheese crust with ham and pineapple.

^ I can't recall if I feed the dog earlier in the day.  :buggedout:

But I can remember garbage that happened 50 years ago.

Are computers sentient? What even is sentience?

Are computers sentient? What even is sentience?

Sentience, "feeling or sensation as distinguished from perception and thought" (Miriam-Webster); " the capacity to be aware of feelings and sensations. The word was first coined by philosophers in the 1630s for the concept of an ability to feel, derived from Latin sentientem, to distinguish it from the ability to think." (Wikipedia).

So, I would say no; advanced computers arguably might be able to think, but they do not feel.
