They use a formula to find movies that are rated low but have lots of views. This results in some real expensive crap. For some reason it also seems biased towards new movies (nothing earlier than 1989 on the list).

I've only seen "Cats," "House of the Dead," and "The Room," And maybe one of the "Police Academy" movies, I saw one of them but don't remember which one it was. I also think "The Room" doesn't really fit, since many people who think it's a 10/10 for enjoyment nonetheless rate it 1/10 'cause they think they're supposed to.

QuoteFor the data, Stacker searched IMDB for movies with over 25,000 user ratings.

As far as voting counts at IMDb goes, older movies usually have less counts than newer movies (except for the super well-known classics). Might have to do with the age group of the majority of people voting at IMDb. Younger people rarely watch older movies, and lots avoid B&W movies because they are shot in B&W.

No. They're morons.

If you don't watch  PSYCHO or the 1968 NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, or any film made back in the 50's back to silent films- your limiting yourself. Your missing some of the best movies of all time.

In their defense, they also use Metacritic scores alongside the IMDB scores, and Metacritic probably doesn't go back as far. We could probably figure out a way to list the worst but most widely seen movies from before 1989 using only IMDB data.

In a strange way, this list limits it's self by listing every Wayans Bros movie ever made............

Budgets certainly picked up in the 1980's, so it's not entirely surprising that there's nothing earlier, based on the algorithm. There's definitely a lot of crap on that list, and some of it pricey.
