^ TCM has shown some silent Japanese films; I think sound was slow to catch on there as the films I saw bits of were mostly 1930s.

63) King Solomon's Mines (1918): footage of this still exists in our archives but it is a real jumble of bad, disjointed and sometimes even reversed images. Seems like someone tried to re-edit the reels and gave up halfway, sadly.

Good question. Naming 'lost' films as a favorite...I've been wanting to list LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT (1927), just because of the iconic image of Chaney's shark tooth vampire.
