I posted about this obscure slasher once before. A grim reaper type of 'entity' is killing sinners in a small town set in the 1920s.

A Day of Judgment was filmed in 1981, and was released to video in 1983.

It is believed the movie started out as a 'dark' Christian film. The distributor ordered re-shots, as in bloody death scenes, and a more horror-like ending. Still, the movie was never released theatrical.

If anything, it is nicely shot and has decent production values, but the rest is boring as hell.

The Dark Side of Midnight (1986)

Made in 1984, not released until 1986. Vanity project of actor Wes Olsen who produced, directed and played the main character.

PG rated crime thriller about a serial killer hiding in people's closets, wearing a Freddy Krueger sweater, and killing his victims by squeezing their head with his bare hands.

This movie is like watching porn without the porn. The guys have fake mustaches and the acting is hilarious, almost on a Troll 2 level.

^^ just checking this on youtube. classy acting :)

but it looks very 70s... struggling to believe that's 80s?

Copyright in the end credits say 1984, but who knows, maybe it was really made in the 1970s.

I didn't know this was on YouTube. I just watched the opening again for the theme song, 'Creeper/Dark Side of Midnight' and it is giving me David Bowie vibes  :buggedout:

The Fear

Not very memorable, but it had a nice killer.  The guy made out of wood looked pretty cool (although it was a touch too obvious that it was just a suit.)  It even got a sequel.

^^

I remember seeing this at the video rental store all the time, but I never watched it.

The Deadly Intruder (1985)

Slasher/Stalker about a small town terrorized by a possibly escaped serial killer. The events unfold in one single night, shifting the focus on a woman alone at home.
This one was boring as I recall. There are a few random killings happening, but for the most part it was really hard to make out anything because almost everything was filmed in almost completely darkness.

There is very little to no suspense, but the film has a decent surprise twist ending. Not the worst ever made, but there are 'better' zero stars rated bad movies out there.

I think this one came up in another thread w/in the past 6 months:

CRINOLINE HEAD....... justly obscure... sort of more a spoof than a straight slasher, though if you are simply looking for "forgotten" and "bad", look no further. Just about as Bad as such things get, iirc from my single watch in the late 90s....... (honestly though I've....... forgotten!)

UNMASKED PART 25 (1988)
British DTV slasher parody.  Hockey-masked killer with a blind girlfriend gets tired of the ways of killing.  I've never seen it but remember spotting its VHS case at a local mom-and-pop video store.

^^^ interesting... english and I've never heard of this. few clips on youtube, looks a bit 'obvious', but just goes to show the slasher spoof has been a thing for longer than most assume...bandaged head on cover but he wears a voorhees mask really
