I have been following the Ghostbusters remake rating at IMDb when the film was released. It was around 5.1 for a long time, which is low but certainly not too low. The rating actually went up over the years. It now has a 6.8 rating, which is pretty good.

Maybe the same will happen with Snow White. We shall see.
Is it October yet?

As far as organized downvoting goes, they actually did organize one in Germany when the film Daniel the Wizard (2004) hit theaters. It was a vanity project for German singer Daniel Küblböck, who was equally loved and hated in Germany.

By all means, the film is honestly awful (directed by Uli Lommel) and would've been downvoted over the years regardless.

Hmm, I had seen the title DANIEL THE WIZARD in the lowest-rated movies and wondered about it.

I agree that SNOW WHITE's IMDB rating will go up after the "controversy" has died down.

ah... I just remember the trailer being (unless I'm mistaken) the first video on youtube to ever hit 1 million dislikes

Maybe is just that bad? CATS has a 2.8 rating and nobody complained about that number, everybody agree that it's just terrible. I do agree that a lot of people may just rate it low just to be funny and jump in the bandwagon, you can realize this just by looking at the comments in the official trailer of SNOW WHITE, where everyone is trying to make the funnier joke. I wouldn't call this an organized campaign though.
Check my crappy and unpopular reviews and ratings:

yeah I just watched Mark Kermode's review on youtube. he's probably the most respected and well known english film reviewer alive.. he pointed out he has no issues with any of the politics surrounding the film, but just said it was mostly terrible. (well he said more than that, but you get the gist...)

In my mind, a web troll desires attention. Someone giving a film low ratings isn't a troll; the goal isn't to get attention for a particular poster, but to change a larger aggregate rating.

Comments on that video are funny too.

2.8 would be historically low, worst major movie of the decade low, but believable. 1.9 is insanely low (and it's now 1.5). IMDB is not a linear distribution, it's a normal distribution that's actually shifted towards higher numbers (average rated movies score 6.4, not 5). Think about how bad CATS was, and this is a whole point lower? That's exponential. It doesn't have to be organized, true, but thousands of 1 star ratings were given not because of the quality of the movie, but because the star insulted Trump and Trump voters.

Well, let's not forget the people who were upset about the casting of an Israeli...

Albeit, I kinda doubt either of these polarizing topics had as much to do with the ratings, as it had to do with this production shouting train wreck from the beginning...

Not heard of her insulting a politician or TV star. The comments that keep getting dragged out are some she made about the original film; that the prince stalked Snow White, that it was too focused on the romance, & that it was dated & "weird, weird." Those comments would offend conservatives, but they'd go beyond conservatives in the U.S.; basically, they'd tick off anyone who wanted a traditional love story.

Not that I recall. Not surprised by it. She did apologize, & she seemed sincere, so I forgive her.

How does this compare with the other live action remakes?

if actors insulting Trump voters on social media guarantees mass boycotts and 1-star pile ons then I think the US film industry might be in trouble  :teddyr:

They (?) are pushing Snow White's failure in Zegler's direction after she p**sed off half America with her peace/Trump comments, and having ZERO appreciation for the original Snow White. You can have freedom of speech all you want, but don't be surprised if it comes back to bite you in the arse.

Based on the last several posts, a film I had no interest in has now become a must-see.
