WEREWOLF IN A GIRLS' DORMITORY (1961):
Tame early Euro-horror that offers few thrills plus (in the Prime print) English dubbing that I have to suspect was only loosely based on the original screenplay - often characters utter non-sequiters or repeat things they've just said or contradict things they've just said, all of which is more irritating than funny. I did smirk when a doctor expresses concern about a fainting "schoolgirl" (who looks 30) and the headmaster tells him not to worry because "she's just coming of age". Huh? Also, spoiler warning, the werewolf is never in the girls' dormitory, only outside and in adjacent buildings.   :bluesad:

My busy schedule won't let up much this summer, so I'll grab some low-hanging movie "fun" where I can get it.

granted I am not the target audience for this, but it just feels like I'm at a bad new rnb concert (or to put that another way, at a new rnb concert). Everything else about this just feels like cookie cutter new horror/ thriller / whatever. not interesting not scary. boring.

M. Knight Shamelessman is a hack.

I guessed the plot twist from the trailer. 😬😉
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Was it even a "twist"? I thought the trailer essentially divulged the entire first two-thirds of the film, including what I presume you mean is the "twist" (which is revealed pretty early on anyway). Another reason to ignore trailers!!!

Two-fer for a Sunday afternoon.....

The first being We Lived Alone: The Connie Converse Documentary https://youtu.be/Yx1hlEbvQxw?si=7FPlWlcwkgwB9cTA
The story about a multitalented woman who failed as a '50s folk singer, disappeared in 1974, then rediscovered in 2003....
Leaves out some details that the viewer may need to read up on first.....

The second was SPACE RANGER ORIGIN (2025) https://youtu.be/28oCp0l_ms8?si=E_uLkjE7SPuSq5Gk
About a female war veteran who gets a mission to go back & time & destroy the program that created her....
Slow paced, even at less than an hour, spends most of it's time pontificating about futzing around with the space time continuum.... Lots of green screen & CGI that looks like an ad for a video game, and an incredibly confusing story.....

Another Double Stinker for a Sunday evening

First: Bandit Queen (1950)
https://youtu.be/xAmhaehaP0I?si=f6g9ghoQ8sizwdS7
A young woman comes home in time to witness her parents get murdered by a sheriff in cahoots with a local land grabber.... She takes the whip used to murder her father & learns to use it while living at the local Spanish Mission....
She later rallies some locals to help her steal back stolen gold, & extract vengeance on the men who killed her parents....

A wee bit more preachy than The Master Gunfighter(1975), but much more enjoyable....

Second: BLACK MOUNTAIN (2025)
https://youtu.be/26rVcPJ71NE?si=FljhxGAkpExmEpEA
So, a couple of researchers get turned down for some grant, which somehow has to to with something in a rural town that turns the locals into paranoid cannibals, while giving outsiders appendicitis.....

The audio is abysmal, which only serves to exacerbate the extremely regional dialect & weakly delivered lines...
Key scenes have been cut out for no reason, and I was enticed to watch by a grossly inaccurate summary in the description bar....
Ultimately, I had no idea what this movie was about!!!
