One of the more popular shows on German TV in 1975 was "Die ZDF-Hitparade"

A music show. It was a platform for pop artists, an entry point into a music career for many.

When South Africa eventually did get TV, many of the first series screened (dubbed into Afrikaans) were from Germany such as Derrick and Tatort. Also a lot from France like Jacqueline and Arsene Lupin.
