Maybe that was Trevor's initial mission? I'm kidding of course, but the constant seeding of District 9 hate over the years almost feels like propaganda.

No offense Trevor  :bouncegiggle:
Is it October yet?

Triumph of the Will(1935) - Always seems to touch a few nerves before rational discussion can be had.....
Nosferatu the Vampyre(1979) - I always found it way too contemporary to the 1970s, but art film lovers tend to disagree with me.....

If you want to upset LOTR fans, ask what the problem with Sauron getting the ring back is. It isn't like he could have put it on.  :bouncegiggle:

Almost every comment I've ever made about the LOTR films has upset LOTR fans - even the positive ones! (I think TWO TOWERS is head-and-shoulders the best film of the three, even notwithstanding the prolonged final scene... whoops, there he goes again!)

Do people get upset about BURN AFTER READING hot takes? It's pretty Mid for the Coens, no...?

Quote from: claws on July 17, 2026, 01:07:15 AMPersonally, I think District 9 isn't a lecture. It's a metaphor, and deliberately uncomfortable. It's not about guilt, it's about the absurdity and cruelty of segregation systems. But that's only my opinion.

Whew. After that description I think I basically sold myself that Babe is a bad movie. But really it isn't. It has charm and panache and perhaps some people disagree with me on what I am saying. I don't see what is so great about it. I mean enlighten me.
And since so many people talk about it. But suspiciously those same people (or clicks if you will) never talk about Animal Farm or Babe Ruth (who is the real Babe.) I think that the mentality of a lot of people, especially people from Australia — should be court martialed. Then who knows. We might have the freedom to actually have some real discussions. About good movies. Bad Movies. Yeah sure.

I think the Bob Hoskin Super Mario Bros movie and the Raul Julia Street Fighter were legitimately good and entertaining movies.

And I think the Nolan Batman movies were bad and Heath Ledger made a horrible Joker.

and I don't care who know it!

I personally think it's one of their best, but I'm aware most people don't. which is fine...  can't see why anyone would get upset or offended by any opinions on it really? it's not exactly a controversial movie.

La Bamba(1987) & The Creep Behind the Camera(2014) tend to trigger certain people..... I'm not sure why...

True Grit. I love that movie. And I love the remake even more. True Grit though. I mean I avoid talking about it. You have those people.."Oh yeah. But do you know an even better western?? I know I know! But let me explain..Ok, so there was – you've heard of John Ford right? Well, Ok and you have heard of Sergio Leone?? Well here, check this out. Since you brought up True Grit!"

You start shaking your head. Like oh man. What did I just start.
Or even worse in my opinion. You talk about True Grit with someone. And they are a fan. And you go to their house and they do the whole digging around routine like going through their cabinets and storage containers, and then they pull out the Newer True Grit with Jeff Bridges. Like they just found something from the Akashic records. And you are like. Ok.

Yeah I mean the movie is just a big analogy for Yun Chi-ho who changed sides from Korea to helping Japan and betraying his country. Who knows.
All of this Akashic records stuff and all it is is a movie. I think the same thing goes on with Lord of the Rings. Except neither myself or any of my friends. Or any of my kinda sort of friends like Lord of the Rings. In fact they all pretty much disdain it. That is one of the good things that I consider about my life, or the energy field or whatever I am around. That I have always been around or attracted Lord of the Ring haters. So yeah, never that movie. But True Grit. It turns into..Like you just surrendered the next ten hours of your life to hear a bunch of names or prop hands or other talked about versions of it.
I was actually on youtube yesterday and I feel like this True Grit syndrome has almost seeped into and permeated just regular people. This one guy talking about deleted scenes or what could have been scenes from the first Jurassic World movie. "Oh yeah!! A triceratops stegosaurus hybrid!! I mean. Don't Laugh!! Don't laugh guys!! They were throwing that around! They almost did it!"

Man. The hate for this movie especially online. I don't get. Yeah so part of the point of this thread is the popular opinion. I guess I am just not popular. I liked Super Mario Bros movie. I mean the one with Bob Hoskin and John Leguizamo. It was definitely for sure better than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II Secret of the Ooze. But you say that to people on the internet and they act like they want to throw a beer bottle at your head.

I also never understood why the Original Masters of the Universe gets such a low score on IMDB. And I thought it was pretty darn good. Courtney Cox and her boyfriend to me were classic. The hate — like a constant stringing hate for Gwildor because he wasn't Orko. Kind of reminds me of the hate for the Super Mario Bros movie. It's like if you guys think that you can do better then go ahead. I bought into the hate and I didn't like Masters of the Universe either. Mainly because of the Gwildor factor.
Now that time has past I am watching it and liking it. And Gwildor has steadily grown on me. Yeah I mean the dude is ugly as heck. But he is like some kind of seance wizard type of guy.

Yeah I mean the movie was so bad. And yet Dolph Lungren and Karg make appearances in the new Masters of the Universe movie. Karg was actually an awesome toy too.
