Just watched this tonight - unbeatable viewing at 2:30am on a Saturday night!  Not much to add that's already been stated.  I'd say Snowbeast is a smart Jaws copy, with a script better-than-usual for Jaws imitations, thanks to Stefano's talent.

The snowbeast itself is cool-looking, and it's assault on the snow queen rehearsal is priceless!  I wish I could have seen this in the '70s (maybe I did, I was 10 in '77, but honestly, I think I'd remember it), but it was a delight to watch now.  Really, is there anything better than a late '70s made-for-TV movie?

It should be noted that aside from Walking Tall series star Bo Svenson, Snowbeast also features The Time Machine's Yvette Mimiuex (who looks great in tight-fitting ski garb) and Robert Logan, star of the Christian-friendly Wilderness Family Robinson movie series of the '70s!

Fans will note actress Sylvia Sidney, who plays proprietor of a ski lodge.  She looks old in this film, and it's hard to believe she made films all the way up to 'mars attacks' in the '90s!  Did anyone notice that Sidney actually takes a fall in this movie?  It was during the snowbeast's attack on the snow queen rehearsal in the gym.  It was really alarming seeing an elderly woman fall to the floor like that.  She's a trouper!

As I previously mentioned, this is a PD title commonly found on inexpensive DVD horror collections, which is what my copy is.  I don't expect any DVD distribution company would take the time to special edition '70s made-for-TV horror movies, but I hope one day I'm proved wrong.

ONLY a 3 page thread on a movie of this magnitude.   what an indictment of the Ivy league film school departments.  and america her self

"Snowbeast" was dumb 70s fun. I got the DVD at the dollar store a couple of years ago. If memory serves, it was a double-feature disc paired with another 70s made-for-TV horror flick, "Moon of the Wolf," with David Janssen. I was entertained by both and then I yard-saled it for two dollars so I even made a profit on it  :teddyr:
