One bar across the street from my job used to have UFC stuff.  Some nights I'd get done and go over.

Haven't seen them have it in a while.

UFC/MMA bores me to tears to be honest with you. That said I do like that old UWFI Bushido stuff I've seen which, arguably the forerunner to MMA, as I understand it was actually a work although they claimed it was real. On occasion I will watch some old boxing footage but no, I prefer my fights to be worked I guess.  BounceGiggle

Granted some of the top name pro wrestlers do have some MMA in their background nowadays (Alberto Del Rio, Brock Lesnar) and some have always participated in both (Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock). Was Inoki-Ali real or a work? Whatever the case, it was boring as heck. How about Andre-Chuck Wepner?

Is UFC a work? Whatever the case, this interview with Ernest "The Cat" Miller is pretty damn funny!  BounceGiggle "the Cat" would whomp all dem guys!  Wink

I didn't even know what UWF Bushido was until you wrote that article. I had no idea Dan Severn did UWF.

That trailer looked amazing! I need to watch some full matches ASAP. (I'm looking on Amazon now)
Real or fake who cares... did you see those belly to back suplexes. Holy mackerel!

I found one.

PS. Thanks for that info.

They used to play full 1-hour shows of UWFI Bushido: the Way of The Warrior on the Fight Network up here. I taped a bunch of them. I don't recall Severn being there that long but he did pop up occasionally. Also briefly there was Bob Backlund and Bad News Allen (who of course has a legit judo background) although both men were well past their primes by that point. A frequent jobber in the U.S. named Tom Burton was actually a fairly big star in UWF and was a consistently entertaining performer there. Their regulars included Nobuhiko Takada, their champ and biggest star who beat just about anybody who was anybody there, Gary Allbright (known as Vulkan Singh in Calgary Stampede wrestling), a huge man who could suplex you to Hell, Kazuo Yamazaki who also beat just about everybody aside from Takada. Other regulars included Naoki Sano, Yoji Anjoh, Tatsuo Nakano, Masahito Kakihara, Kiyoshi Tamura and Kenichi Yamamoto on the Japanese side with Tom Burton, Billy Scott and Mark Fleming being more frequent American competitors. All of these guys impressed me at one point or another. According to Wikipedia, Vader, Iron Sheik, Pez Whatley and Norman Smiley all competed there as well.

I may be working the ring crew at some local events, including CZW, CHIKARA, and MECW in Maryland.

Seeing Sid again was cool but Heath Slater still sucks.
