What bores you about them AHD? I think they're one of the most repulsive hard drug driven bands out there. They were all big time junkies around the time of that album. A million death metal bands can grunt about death and pain, but EHG really mean it. And what have you got against egg gargling vocals? Mike's screams just ooze with filth, disease and addiction. But hey, to each their own.
I love great Rock n' Roll.  I like good Rock n' Roll.  I don't think disease or pain or addiction are substitutes for legitimacy in Rock.

Henry Rollins-who was from DC-and was hanging out with Minor Threat-who in turn were mentored by the Bad Brains personally-was recruited by west coast band Black Flag-and punk history was made!

I agree-the VANDALS are fantastic-I stated listening to punk in 1983-I was lucky enuff to hear some great s**t when it was fresh-and I just watched a film the other day called AMERICAN HARDCORE-which reminded me how great these insane kids were-and diverse! You had Bad Brains,Black Flag,Minor Threat,SS Decontrol,COC,DRI,and the mighty MDC-just to name a few!
and of course-the architects of West Coast Hardcore-the CIRCLE JERKS!

I agree with you to a point AHD. It's not the fact that I think they are legitemate because of their substance abuse. I just think they're an honest band singing about what they know. What would have happened to a band like The Stooges if they didn't use drugs?  Smile

I guess that's a fair point.  My all time favorite record of any type is FUN HOUSE on which we hear IGGY snorting a lot (probably pink cocaine)...  TeddyR
