Archaeological evidence suggests primitive ancestors to the Smurfs were tetrapodal, ground dwelling scavengers.  It is believed that some three million years ago, "The Smurfy Link", a direct ancestor to present day Smurfs, stood on two legs, not four.

Brainy: Okay, okay. I thought my glasses were blurry so I got dizzy and fell down, but I just found out everything is blurry; this is a low-resolution image we're in. Therefore I am not dizzy and can go ahead and stand up!

The other Smurfs got really disappointed when they found out that Brainy had taken valium instead of Viagra. A whole day of planning an orgy, wasted.
I was wonderin' when El Capitan was gonna get a chance to use his popgun.
