Zombies will kill you;
You better run and hide now;
Zombies will break in;
We are all going to die;
You better run and hide now

NOTE: The above haiku is really lame.  I know. :wink:

'Night of the Living Dead'
Sent thrills through my head
It broke racial grounds
With its leaps and its bounds
It has haunted children's dreams
Through the years and the seams
It brings us many joys
With each theatre it destroys
Its violence it brings
And the commentary it sings
Its political brass
And that naked woman's ass
The zombies it portrays
Has justified my days
I bring you honor with what I've said
'Night of the Living Dead'

Listen to me, Ben
Let's all go to the cellar

How did Karen die?
She was bitten on the arm
now she's one of them

Are they slow moving?
Yeah they're dead, they're all messed up
Shoot them in the head

I saw this in a theater when it first came out and had no idea what it was about.  It creeped me out big time and left a very lasting impression.  I have not seen it since, and even if it's on tv, I CANNOT watch it. Needless to say, I don't watch any kind of zombie movies.

I got to see it at a drive-in when I was around 9 or 10, back around 1975. The double bill had it playing with In Search of Dracula narrated by Christopher Lee.

What scared me most about NOTLD was during the "trowel scene" where Karen chops her mother up.  There's a reason besides the scene itself:

In the car next to us, some guy must have been on a bad trip-he started screaming for dear life and started pounding on the inside of the car and screaming to be let out.

My parents wwre in the front seat, my grams was in the back with me, but still the film scared me badly, as well as the guy who pulled the stunt I described above. Fun night, that one.

      Nineteen sixty-eight
    I was twelve, and numb
         From Martin
        And Bobby
     And Vietnam
      So I sought to escape
      At the Tivoli
     With a good monster movie.
           Two hours later
           I am number
       From loved ones
       Eating loved ones
       And the good guy
        Being killed by mistake.
       Chaos, terror, and despair....
       "Night of the Living Dead" WAS nineteen sixty-eight.
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

     The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.
