Psycho Circus

I keep seeing an incredibly sexy girl get on my bus, so I think I'm going to make it my mission to ask her out.

Am I the only one that finds something rather disturbing about people (especially comedians) who are always playing some sort of role and never seem to give an indication there's actually a real person inside them?  People like Stephen Colbert, Sarah Silverman, Robin Williams, etc?

It's just like, you want to say to them, "Dude, can you just be NORMAL for five minutes, cause your act is getting annoying..."

I've noticed that too.  My theory is that they are all just real losers inside, and the characters they play are all they have.

In the early 80's I liked the Jedi a little, even tho Darth Vader and the Emperor were my favorites.

Now and I understand that the rebels are bad in a way. Just that - rebel scum.

Well, they're terrorists.

sandra bollocks new movie The Blind Side would be clever and perhaps even watchable if it was a porn parody of what it actually is.

they always have to be "on".  I agree with spazzo, they are empty and the character is all they have.  jack black is like that too.  let's face it, everyone in hollywood is like that, even the nice actors.  can you tell me again why the masses are listening to actors about health care and politics??  dude, you play MAKE BELIEVE FOR A LIVING! why am i listening to you regarding what political candidate to vote for?

"What about the American Dream?"
"It came true!  You're looking at it!"

Jack

I've seen a couple interviews of Hollywood actors who actually seemed like normal, down-to-earth people.  Yup, two in 45 years.  The rest are just so empty and artificial, and if they do have any personality, it's just vain and conceited.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

I'm beginning to suspect that about 95% of my friends are nerds.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing.
Hell, I'm not even sure that they should be considered as nerds. They play WoW.

I hate that too... I think it all really started during the war with Iraq.. the media suddenly decided that what celebs have to say about it mattered for some reason, and it just kept going from there.  Then came the election about everyday we'd hear about SOME celebrity saying this or that about Palin or this or that guy endorses Obama etc, etc.  I mean, WHO CARES!  Matt Damon, I don't give a s**t who you're voting for.  I don't care what Madonna thinks about that latest election, George Michael, you're opinion about political parties means nothing to me, and yet the press would treat these guys like goods, especially they agreed with whatever political agenda they were pushing.

As Bernard Goldberg once said wrote, if these guys were plumbers instead of actors, would the media be obsessed with what they think?  Of course not.

Sometimes I hang out at this local gaming store that sells D&D, Magic the Gathering and other stuff.  They also have two XBoxes with several games on two big screen TVs you can pay a few dollars and play on them for a few hours (last I stopped playing Halo 3 against each other was the big thing.)

Now, you'd think that giving that I like MTG and games as well, it'd be a great place to make friends?

Well, not quite..

Problem is most of these guys seem completely incapable of talking about anything else BUT WoW, Halo, or some related subject.  It's like they're records stuck on one track.  Conversations go something like:

Me: So, how you doing?
Them: Oh, fine.
(Pauses waiting for them to ask me how I'm doing, then...)
Me: So, what have you been up to lately?
Them: Not much, just hanging out here, playing Magic and on the Xbox.

Sometimes I'll go there and several of them will be on their laptops playing online games or doing stuff and I can't help but think, "Geez, if they want to surf the net, why don't they just stay home?"

Plus, a lot of the cool games I might be interested in joining are played on nights I have to work.  So, dunno...

I hate that...  There's this one guy in a "punk rock band" I'm in (yes punk rock band is in quotes on purpose) who is amazing at drums.  But he's almost addicted to WOW.  It's pretty frustration when we're trying to play music and he's just playing WOW off in the corner.

Sexy bus girl was not on bus today. That make Circus slightly less perky.  :bluesad:
