Could be very good if done right. They need to keep the adult tone and not kiddie it up.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Wasn't Spielberg working on a live-action Battle Angel Alita adaptation? I haven't heard anything new about that since all the talk about Indiana Jones and now this Ghost in the Shell story. Whatever happened to that?

"Don't make me stain my last clean shirt with the back of your head." - Shatter Dead
"A grizzly bear with a chainsaw. Now THERE's a killing machine!" - The Simpsons
"I've always wanted to make love to an angry welder." - Jaws: the Revenge

I have my doubts. This will cost a lot of money to make, so they will have to draw in the crowds. The temptation to turn it into a summer blockbuster will be enormous.

Avalon (2001), Oshii's first film after the first Ghost in the Shell, was in many ways a live action adaptation of the anime. The main actress certainly looked like the major in the combat scenes.

So yes, I think an adaptation might work, but I doubt whether this will be any good.
