Traci Lords proves that appearing in a bad movie about vampire aliens does not require a woman to take her clothes off, but sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do.

The best part of this movie is the opening credit montage of other Corman-produced crap movies with that zany music.

Traci Lords, blue bikini, zoom and slo-mo functions on the remote...it don't get no better than that  :teddyr:

Movies like this are the reason I'll always be a fan of Jim Wynorski - he gives the B movie fan exactly what they want.

I rented this a couple years ago at Family Video & it was a fun movie. If the DVD wasn't so expensive I'd buy it.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe this was the last time Traci got naked in a movie. I guess, she's a 'serious' actress now.

I have this movie only because of Traci Lords, since she's the only thing worth watching.Did anyone else notice the film flubs?? The crew's reflection in the car as they're pulling in the driveway;her wearing high heels, then she isn't,then she is after she gets out of the shower;her wearing shoes, then she's barefooted, then she's isn't towards the end as she's being chased??? I might have left out a few more, but you get the idea..Yes,this is a bad movie and yes, some of the performances aren't all that good, but I can't stop thinking about that blue bikini!!!!

I liked this movie in college for two reasons . . . actually for several sets of two reasons. :teddyr:

I saw this on Scfi back in January and I loved every second of it  :teddyr: Not only was there an antagonist who was so quirky and enjoyable a character and a giant space jellyfish that could vaporize you, Richard Belzar is in it! That alone makes this movie golden  The morphy-face alien was a kooky touch, too. This is just a very enjoyable movie that taps just the right cinematic vein (unintentional pun).

You saw the 1995 version.  This is the 1988, which is the lesser of the 3 versions (1957, 1988, 1995).  I keep hoping that they will release the 1995 "Not of This Earth" on DVD, but I am almost ready to sacrifice livestock to get a DVD release of the original 1957 movie.

Hate this movie, hate Wynorski. Reportedly he made a bet with someone that he could make his version in as little of time as the original. He did, but neglected to tell anyone he padded his film out with stock footage from other New World films.

They *did* release the 1995 Michael York version on DVD (I still have it).  I'm sure you can still find a copy on Amazon Marketplace or eBay.

Anyone wanting the 1957 version can get from Amazon for a decent price, especially since the dvd also contains "Attack of the Crab Monsters" and "War of the Satellites"

You missed several RANDOM GRATUITOUS BREAST SHOTS in your review.

I just watched this recently. I also watched a bunch of other Wynorski movies for some reason, one of which included Dinosaur Island. I also watched the "documentary" Popatopolis. All of these are available to watch on Netflix Instant.

Yes, Not of This Earth was filmed on a bet. Popatopolis was also about Wynorski filming a movie in only three days. I watched the entirety of that documentary, and all I have to say is that Wynorski has some serious problems with women. (Well, also that, even though I have never seen a single movie she has appeared in, I am now a fan of Julie K. Smith... for obvious reasons.)

I actually kind of enjoyed Not of This Earth. It's really not good, but it's a better vehicle for delivering naked ladies than most Wynorski films. Don't fool yourself, Wynorski is the bad kind of b-movie director. He ain't got no soul.

My main question involves this: Traci Lords is a beautiful girl, and this is the last time she bared herself on camera. (Don't go looking for her earlier work if you value your own morality.) But whoever did the makeup on her turned her into a ridiculously over-powdered china doll. Seriously, from the head up she is ridiculously pale.

The fact that I found this extremely distracting points to the fact that I may be old before my time.
