Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs the Smog Monster, AIP versions will probably never see an offical release.

Joe

sorry for my ignorance but what is the "AIP" versions? i own godzilla vs. hedorah and that comes with the original jap language version.

QuoteJust make sure you check your DVD-Rs every few years.  They gradually get errors over the years, and can become unplayable.  They'll start to skip first though.  At that point, you can just make a new copy, as your computer will be able to sort it out still.

really? i didnt know that. i capture from my vcr right to my computer so i have an original .avi that i store on a external hard drive for backup.

Its the company that did the origianl dubs. For example in G vs the Smog Monster the Save the Earth song is in English, the DVD Godzilla vs Hedorah uses Toho's "International" dub, the song is in Japanese, also the dubbing is completely different. Smog Monster was released on VHS but the AIP DAM has never been offically released.

Most of the Gamera films are like this too, orignally dubbed by AIP but later redubbed by Sandy Frank.

Joe

thats interesting, i wonder why classic media didnt get the right music for godzilla vs hedorah. they went through the trouble to get the jap language print and clean it up, i mean why not?

Sony released Hedora as well as some other toho monster flicks (sea monster, gigan,...). They just got the rights directly from Toho and just used toho's "international" dub.

I just found out today that THE REFLECTING SKIN is not on DVD, and I have no idea why.  I ordered a "like new" VHS copy.

The AVI is a good idea.  In my experience, hard drives are more reliable than burned optical media.

On the DVD-R thing, I should probably mention that it isn't GUARANTEED they'll become unplayable, and there are people with 10 year old DVD-Rs that play perfectly fine.  It's just a possibility, especially if you're using low grade media.  It's also possible they might last 50+ years, but I wouldn't count on it, that's all.

Blood Beach: I just heard of this movie and now I can't get it out of my head.  I really want to see what this one is about and I'm sort of being forced to use YouTube to see it as my last option.  A movie about a killer beach?  That just grabs my attention.  Yeah someone mentioned it earlier, but I think it should be noted that someone else is curious about it.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

Blood Beach is a fun one, I've only seen it on tv though not uncut.

Razorback - as stated earlier in this thread this definitely needs a region 1 release. Its out as a region 4. Probably watched this one a dozen times in the '80s.

Inframan - one of my all time favorites. I know The Super Inframan is already out, but I would like to have them both on DVD.

Spectreman - there were random episodes available on vhs throughout the '80s-90s.

Akira - The Streamline version that was in theaters in 1988, I want my Leonardo voice back for Kaneda  :hatred:

LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD is coming out this week!

Per the director, BEGOTTEN will never be re-released on DVD (so the original 1000 copies or so are all that will ever exist).  He is considering a Blu-Ray release, though.

Hardware aka M.A.R.K. 13 will likely never see a DVD release, as they ripped the whole thing off from a 2000 AD comic and got their pants sued off sometime around the VHS release.

Well this is a surprise... have to check around to see if it actually came out.
