I recently heard the new AIC single "Check My Brain" and I thought it was pretty cool. Seems like it may be a lot better than their last album with Layne (RIP). I'm thinking of purchasing the album, but I was wondering if anyone else had heard the album, and if so, what did you think of it?

I have and it's brilliant. I like it alot more that "Alice In Chains"  and even "Jar Of Flies". Jerry Cantrell is alot more dominant on the album than Robert Duvall is, but their harmonies together create that classic AIC sound, so much so that it's almost like Layne is on the record. If your even remotely a fan of AIC, I highly recommend you buy it. You will not be disappointed trust me.

I was never a huge Alice in Chains fan but I did like a few of their songs over the years.
Never actually bought one of their albums before because I considered their music "Depression Rock".  Some of their songs are just so depressing and I'm not into that.

That being said, I really like that "Check My Brain" song.  It's pretty catchy.
Not sure if I'll buy the new album or not.  We'll see.

Alice in Chains is one my favorite bands, and having bought it and listened I think it's great.  I was skeptical when I heard they were doing another album, but this album really brought them to a new level.

The new album is surprisingly great.  I didn't care for their last self titled album that much and also was skeptical on the new singer but he sounds great.

AIC had a lot more to prove as a band and this album in proof of that.  Cantrell is one hell of a guitar player and as Circus pointed out the harmony is what makes their vocals distinct.

Downloaded it. WHOA. Easily the best thing they've done since Dirt. Gonna buy it asap.

I'm digging the new single, but I don't know if I dig it enough to buy the album yet.  I loved them during their 'initial' run and still rank Dirt as one of the better albums of the past twenty years or so.

Actually, hearing Circus_Circus give it the go ahead was surprisingly effective.

I'm not a huge fan of Jerry Cantrell. His "solo" stuff has never been my favorite, but if the rest of Alice in Chains is involved I want to check it out.

Staley had one of the most distinctive voices of that time and place, sadly he succumbed to the lure of the drugs that were also too popular. Luckily, a band is rarely just one member. If the rest of them are still making music, I will check them out.
