I really do want to buy this.  Keep us posted when it comes out and if a Region 1 release is going to happen.  Hell, I'd buy it even if I can't play it.  I'd find a way.

All the current releases are on Region O and the DVD should be available from www.kalahari.net by April.

Region-free. Good to know. It wouldn't be a big deal to play a Region 2 disc here, but this is much better.

I used to see the box for this movie at the local video store for years, and never had the nerve to rent it. Too much of an obvious subpar ET knockoff. I think a friend and I might have snickered at it once or twice and moved on. But after seeing just how hilariously bizarre it is, I can't wait for this DVD.

The great Apostic on BNotes really laid a smackdown on the film especially where he said that co-director Sias Odendaal hadn't done another film and "may be this is a good thing".  :bouncegiggle:

No problem with that at all ~ he'll probably be pleased that his film has an audience. Don't forget, I know the producer, director and cinematographer of Space Mutiny too.  :buggedout: :buggedout:

That's awesome! I think it could be as big as Troll 2 if the rights-holders get it released in the USA. But they can't expect that much of a return initially. Most people wouldn't pay $20.00 for it here in USA-- I would, but I'm not most people. I think people would be willing to buy it for $5 at Wal-Mart, that's not a bad thing though, that's how most people bought the Troll 2 dvd. Plus there's also Redbox, I've seen that Brazilian Pixar knock-offs have been able to rent through that source.

Did you write the linear notes for the release of Space Mutiny too?

No I didn't, actually: While I know the people that made it, I've never seen that film in its' entirety, except parts on Youtube.

It will probably look something like this ~ there is a generic cover for all the MNet / NuMetro releases:

Just by the way ~ the film above is a film that Dr Trevor prescribes to people who are in need of a very good cry.

Strange - all the releases I've worked on in the last six months have been region free. As soon as I get the DVD sleeve, I shall confirm.

Also, when you get the DVD sleeve is there a way you could post a picture of the cover?  I'm really curious to see what it looks like.

Will do ~ the picture of the sleeve of Katrina posted down below will give you some idea of what it looks like as there is a generic cover for each DVD in the MNet series.
