Movies have shown us some of the best action scenes we could only dream about.  From car chases, to fist fights, and to shoot outs, what are your favorite action scenes that you seen in movies?  Here's a few of mine:

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

The "Battle of Camden" sequence in THE PATRIOT

The Normandy landings in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

And the big Zeppelin vs. biplane fight in FLYBOYS

Jackie Chan VS Ken Lo in Drunken Master 2/Legend of Drunken Master.

This was the best quality version, though it has more than just the Ken Lo duel.

To quote Roger Ebert, it may not be possible to film a better fight scene.

Jackie Chan VS Bradley James Allan (the first white member of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team) in Gorgeous

Another great one, especially considering how late this one is - Chan is 45 in this scene.

Danny Lee and Chow Yun-Fat VS everybody.

Words cannot properly express my love of Woo.

The entire finale of Tiger on Beat justifies the rest of the movie.

By far my all time fav...

I recall the first time seeing it my father saying to me "watch what he does to those cops" after Paul Winfield's character "reassures" Sarah Connor the place with well guarded.  The scene has never lost it's luster for me.

I really like the trainwreck scene in The Fugitive.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

Swamp Thing

The truck chase in Terminator II: Judgement Day will always play in my mind.

And I really like the ending to Jaws 2 where Brody makes the shark bite the electricity line.
Abby Arcane: Is there a Mrs. Swamp Thing?
Swamp Thing: No, I'm a bachelor.

10,000 Volt Ghost

Always loved the scene in Rambo II when he's using the Bow and Explosive Arrows and just annihilates the officer from a hundred yards away.

KABOOM
John Hancock

In "The Protector" there is a scene where Tony Jaa enters a building and traverses three stories until he reaches the top fighting off a phalanx of unfortunate victims (some who are even thrown over the edge)... the entire scene is in one continuous shot.

sorry, no link.  I am not on my computer and the internet on this one has some things blocked (like video)

The Vikings with Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis and Ernest Borgnine. IMHO the entire movie is one big action scene with a few scattered moments of dialogue just to catch your breath. This is just one great scene of many.

Jumping Kings and Making Haste Ain't my Cup of Meat

The rooftop fight between Charles Bronson and Archie Moore in Breakheart Pass.
Chuck Norris and Professor Toru Tanaka throw some hands in An Eye For An Eye
The killing of the tower guards in The Wild Geese.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

It may stretch a little what you may consider an action scene, but some early Hayao Miyazaki films have some of my favourite action scenes:

- In "Porco Rosso", the opening attack on the air pirates, and later, the getaway from the city in his new hidro. Both scenes are among the most exhilarating I've ever seen, although there's little of violence in them, specially in the second.

- In "Castle of Cagliostro", the car chase at the beginning. The heroes ride in a WW Beetle and a car with hired goons starts shooting at them. They make the WW climb into the steep sides of the road. And later, the rooftop infiltration scene or the escape from the dungeons bits are also terrific.

As for real action, I tend to prefer stripped down action to MTV style editing, so I'd choose these two:

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
