Really? I've always found that issue (wether it was part of the series or not) very confusing. Thanks for clarifying that.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I always felt that Steve James was the real American Ninja. You just know who could have put a real hurtin' on Michael Dudikoff.

Yeah, I wonder whatever happened to Michael Dudikoff?  He, Carl Weathers, and Steve James would have been a great addition to The Expendables given their own respective contributions to the action movie genre..

Steve James unfortunately died in 1993.  I've heard it suggested by several people that James would have been a successful leading man in quite a few action films of the 80s if he'd been white.  Something was going on there, anyway - he had charisma to spare, and could definitely perform in the action sequences.

Agreed. James was just as every bit good as Carl Weathers and then some. I knew that James had died in 1993 and if I recall right it was some form of cancer.   As for American Ninja and the sequels, (and th other movies) it seemed that Cannon films made a fortune off guys like Chuck Norris, Michael Dudikoff, and the aging but still powerful Charles Bronson. Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus were very prolific.

Dudikoff...  He has two new movies coming out, but there was a 7 year gap.  Maybe taking time off?  I've seen some newer videos of him on youtube - apparently he has been peripherally involved in MMA stuff, or at least is a fan of it.  Dunno though.  I do know American Ninja is one of my favorite bad movies though - it's a 10 in my book.  Too bad the sequels aren't as good.

Good for him! I hope his new movies are good ones.  I also remember seeing him on Hollywood Squares back in the 80's and 90's as well. I guess they needed a Ninja to balance the bill  :bouncegiggle:

:) If you thought Ninja III was bad check out Ninja II. It's not as bad but comes very close.
