Based off what I've read from certain people here, there seems to be plenty of appreciation for novelty music and comedy based music.  Seems to not be a hugely viable, money making branch of the music industry, and most make a quick buck and quickly disappear.  Some make a career out of it.  Some examples of some favorites of mine:
"I Just Had Sex" by The Lonely Island featuring rapper Akon

"Fish Heads" by Barnes and Barnes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTpUVAcvWfU

"CNR" by "Weird Al" Yankovic, a style parody of The White Stripes, about Charles Nelson Reilly.

Weird Al's probably the biggest known comic musician to make it 'big', at least in the last 25 years or so.  There've been others, Frank Zappa and Spike Jones, notably.  Anyone else have any?

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.

The Burgomaster

Probably the grand-daddy of them all is Alan Sherman.
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Alan Sherman is funny too. Still listen to him.

Umaril The Unfeathered

The NYC area hardcore band Mucky Pup did their part to bring new life to an old fairy tale:

It's not really novelty, but it's still a funny song! It's from the album A Boy In A Man's World.

Dawn's Beauty is our shining home.

An varlais, nou bala, an kynd, nou latta.

Ray Stevens.
Some like The Streak best, but my favorites of his are "It's Me Again Margaret", "I Need Your Help, Barry Manilow", and "The Ballad Of The Blue Cyclone".

"Where's Your Mommy?" by Cledus T. Judd---basically the country version of weird al.  Does Parodies, and such.

Also, The Dead Milkmen are pretty funny, a punk group from Philly.

Mofo Rising

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

"Fish Heads" by Barnes and Barnes
I had their album Voobaha sorry I sold it with most of my records... BILLY MUMY from the old 1960s TV show "Lost In Space" was half of the musical group BARNES AND BARNES.  This was my favorite off their first album:

Abso-freaking-lutely, and a good call.

How about Harry Nilsson of "Lime in the Coconut" fame? What a bizarre and whimsical artist.
