Limp Bizkit is one of the worst of all time, partly because they made it so big with such a stupid name.

There was also a band in the 80's called The The. Pretty bad.

Linkin Park is also very stupid. I read somewhere that the reason for the spelling was not simply a matter of retarded pseudo-cleverness, but because the domain name lincolnpark.com was taken. That takes it to ever greater depths of bad.

Wham! sounds like an 9-year-old girl marketed the band.

Come to think of it, Def Leppard has got to be one of the all-time worst.

This isn't going to make it past the censoring software, but:

Anal C**t

That was absolutely the first one that came to mind for me too.

They've been around so long that I almost forgot how much I hated the name "U2" when the band first came out.

Karma for the first person who can tell me who I'm quoting here:  "That's the letter 'U' and the numeral '2'...  This is bulls**t!  These guys are from England and who gives a s**t!  Names that don't mean diddly-s**t..."
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I think that was Casey Kasem.

Mott the Hoople always struck me as not coming off too well as band names go.

zombie no.one

the first band I ever saw live were called The Tony Head Experience after the actor Antony Head who was in coffee adverts at the time, and later went on to be in Buffy The Vampire Slayer...bad name though

Metalcore seems to be notorious for long stupid names:

Bring Me The Horizon
Fastest Kid In 5th Grade
From A Second Story Window
In Reference To A Sinking Ship
Take A Worm For A Walk Week...

Sorry to take it off topic a bit, but I've always been intrigued by "take a worm for a walk week." Did that originate with The Karate Kid when the Cobra Kai kid said "must be 'take a worm for a walk' week?" Or did it originate somewhere else. I've always wondered. That line was very confusing when I was watching the movie in high school.

Toad the Wet Sprocket is a pretty good example of the "college rock"-genre of bad band names that was popular in the early '90s. Looking it up, the based it off a bad band name Eric Idle came up with for Monty Python as an example of worst band name. So, is it now bad or is it good? The answer is it is still bad.

Slash Puppet is particularly unfortunate when you consider the modern usage of "slash" in the internet era.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Psycho Circus

There's an awful band called Flight Like Apes who have an even more awful album title called, You Filled His Head With Fluffy Clouds and Jolly Ranchers, What Did You Think Was Going to Happen?

Zapranoth

REO Chuckwagon Speedwagon.  (a bad band name, moderately bad band.)

Sister Ugly and the Underwear-Less Girls.

Hell Hammer.

(bad names, bad bands.)

When I was an assistant manager at a Guitar Center, I worked with a guy that was always talking about his band. His band kind of sucked, but hey, I don't tell people that unless they really corner me on it. Anyway, this guy would always tell people his band's name, which was Lady Elaine. Then he would talk about how the name came from the Mr. Rogers show and the character Lady Elaine from the land of make-believe, and he always seemed so proud of the name.

Sure there are far worse band names than Lady Elaine, but this guy was so starved for validation that he would go on and on about it like he wanted people to say "Wow, man, that's such a cool name for a band." Freaking annoying.

After enough of him talking about his damned crappy band and constantly playing me his demo and talking about his cool band name I just one day had enough and told him his band name and his music were both stupid. I don't like to do things like that, but the guy just wouldn't shut up about it. Of course his response to this was "Oh, you don't know good music, so f**k you." I said "if that means you're going to stop hounding me about it then yes, you're right."
