Figured we should do a "Top 100 Worst" this time around. Anyway:

The world of music has blessed us with talented musicians whose compositions put a smile on our face. At the same time, there have been many people in the past and present who although like to consider themselves "musicians", are actually devoid of talent.

Post up to three musicians you absolutely can't stand. Add some comments about said person if you wish.

1) Sid Vicious

So the thread begins with one of the most infamous bass players of all time. Apparently Sid was so bad that the band made sure that his bass was unplugged during live performances. When even your own bandmates think you suck, you know there's something wrong.

Soulja Boy- This guy can't rap and has polluted the world with the word Swag.... :hatred:
yeah no.

3. Alannis Morisette.  Just horrible.  Some people like her, but I just don't see how.  She should've just been happy with her "You Can't Do That On Television" fame.

Almost every talentless, dime-a-dozen, brainless, prepubescent, high-voiced, obnoxious, over-rated, asinine, soul-less, auto-tuned, god damn child singer I hear on the radio today!  :hatred:

Especially this disgusting little wannabe who has the audacity to call herself an artist. She's about as much of an artist as Adolph Hitler was a philanthropist. Usually I go easy on kids, but when you know you suck and keep singing anyway, that just sickens me. Worst part is that in a few more years all we'll be seeing from the music industry is more high-voiced little s**ts using auto-tune to do the singing for them.

P.S. Yes that did used to say music "legend". I Photoshopped that horrid fabrication of the truth. I don't know why it said such a thing, but I'm going to tell you one thing. I'm listening to Freddie Mercury on full blast all night until I go deaf.

O-Town. A little known 'boyband' that popped up around 2000/2001, at the tail end of that teenybopper phase. That phase gave us NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Hanson. Otown wasn't quite as popular, had some minor hits and faded away.

Most of the others are still around.

Off-topic a bit: I give Hanson credit. Even as a teenaged boy band, they wrote all their material and performed their own instruments. They've written some great material now as adults and are a pretty good indie-ish band.

You got that one right, Russell. Cringe inducing lyrically and musically. She should've stuck with dance music. Are you a fellow Canuck by any chance?

Anyway, my vote goes to pretty much any nu-metal band in general. Thankfully, that stuff is pretty much passe, but alas, we have a reimergence of teeny pop, awful hiphop, and pathetic "rock" music.... :hatred:

Korn, especially the singer.  I know this band is (or was) practically worshipped by many but I hate their songs.  The music by itself might not be so bad (well, actually, it is) but, once that guy starts yellingsinging, it all goes to hell.  Particularly obnoxious is that one song where it's just two or three minutes of him crying and screaming "I f**kING HATE YOU" over and over.

Insane Clown Posse.  I remember my cousin Mark buying their very first album, just because of the novelty (hardcore clowns).  He listened to about half of it and threw it away.  It was that bad.  Yet, somehow, twenty years later, they're still at it!  And they haven't gotten the slightest bit better in all that time!  And there are people who dedicate their lives to these a***oles!  I keep waiting for the band to reveal that their entire career was a particularly cruel joke at their fans' expense.

Most modern "country".  Modern country is completely soulless and extremely cynically designed to appeal to the "blue collar" consumer.  Each album is guaranteed to include songs about: American pride/the American flag, supporting the troops, working in a factory/a retail establishment, driving an old car/truck, shopping at Wal-Mart, watching your adorable little kids play, and getting back at that darn ex.  Country music these days is purely mass-produced and designed by a marketing team, even moreso than the crap that makes up the Top 40.

in my opinion "worst musicians" does not = music you personally don't like. for example I can't stand Dream Theater but I concede they are technically excellent musicians

Are you trying to claim that Korn and ICP are "technically good"?   :buggedout:

Anyway, music, like any art, is completely subjective.  "Good" and "bad" are different for each listener.  In my case, technical quality doesn't matter.  The country music I listed above may be fine from a mechanical standpoint but it is artistically bankrupt.  That makes it much, much worse than a band that plays off-key and out of time but means it.

okay fair enough, I suppose that is another way of looking at it. I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything. just depends how you interpret "devoid of talent". I personally don't like Korn either but they don't strike me as a band who literally can't play their instruments like Sid Vicious, which was the example given... whatever though. I'm not going to think Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme - one of my favourite guitarists of all time - is a terrible musician because he now plays guitar for Rihanna, even though I can't stand her music...

I'll second the hate for John Davis of Korn.  One, his singing sucks; two, he's just such a little b***h.

-Soulless drivel

-The Justin Biebers of their time

-The band that almost single-handedly destroyed Rock and Roll

Michael Jackson

-A very influential musician indeed, which is one of the reasons today's pop music sucks so much

-Generally thought of as a creepy child-molester, but then he dies and all of a sudden he is generally thought of as the second coming of
Christ.

Bono

-Pompous arrogant frontman for one of the most boring bands in the world
