Quote from: Andrew on April 30, 2014, 11:48:21 AMIt's not Rodan, but a new monster in this film.

What's in a name? Rodan by any other name is still pretty f**kin' sweet.

Yeah.  My understanding, BTW, is that they don't have rights to any other part of Toho's menagerie.  Which is a bit sad.  Still looking good, even if the true Godzilla will always be a man in a suit.

Wait - thats Muto? I thought Muto was red with black spikes and huge (cloverfield monster type - no wings)

or - that's Muto's 1st form? (fly type)

I'm so confused.

Maybe it's the return of THE GIANT CLAW! But seriously, I really can't wait to see this movie. It seems like it's done in a very serious manner while still having a Toho type fantasy style to it.

From everything I know, the flying monster is a Muto.

You know, I'm starting to wonder that since this is influenced by the original if they'll end it on a very sympathetic note. Also, there's a lot of internet chatter that Godzilla resembles a bear. Not that that's a bad thing, and his roar does look similar to a Grizzlies.

He has a very bear-like mannerism at the end of the newest "Let them fight clip."  Since Legendary made this, it's likely they looked for some inspiration from real animals.  Leatherback from Pacific Rim was based on a gorilla, and I believe Otachi from that film was both a lizard and then a bird of prey.

Yeah Godzilla does have a bear-like appearance, in the way his jaws are sunken on the sides and the way it makes his nose stick out.  The other monster is a very clever yet not-too-subtle nod to Rodan, though.  This should be really good!
