Just saw this in CNN. They usually don't  run fake death notices.

It's confirmed. This is so sad. Rest in peace, Mr Hauer. The irony of his 'tears in the rain' speech is that while he talks about lives vanishing, his will live forever.  Bluesad

Just heard about this.  Very sad.  I really liked a lot of his movies.

RIP

can't say I know too many of his films, and I also can't say I'm a huge BLADERUNNER fan either, but he was definitely a distinctive actor with a unique presence. WEDLOCK of all films is the one I associate with him most

He was a remarkably talented actor; LADYHAWKE is one of my favorite films of his.  That and HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN.

He even made "split second" bearable.

Say what?

This article which is fairly good says hauer was in the genre star wars?  Question Question Question

Blade runner wasn't the same genre as star wars, blade runner was SF/cyberpunk, dystopian future whereas star wars was space opera thru and thru.

I have no doubt hauer would have made an excellent character in a star wars movie as either a jedi or sith, but sadly it was not so.

I'd expect to find them both in the Sci-Fi section at my local betamax store.

Goodnight RUTGER.  We loved you.

It is possible to correct the misspelling of RUTGER.    You can edit your post.  It's not Rutget.  Bluesad
