I tried to see if there was already this topic, couldn't find one.  I thought of it because one is on, an infliction MOVIE I LOATHE THAT EVERY BODY ELSE LOVES:

POLAR EXPRESS (2004)  Ugh.  It's on again.  It's being watched again.  Ugh.

If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

The Wizard of Oz  :hatred:

Blasphemy! Burn the Witch!

I'm kidding. I can understand why.

For me it's the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
I was dating a girl once, and she rented the movie, and I bit my lip trying to sit threw that. Meatloaf?  :bluesad:

As far as POLAR EXPRESS goes, Tiana watches all that animated kid stuff- she loves it.
I don't even try to fake it. I go do something else. I would rather eat rat poison.

I understand too.  I went through a long phase of hating THE WIZARD OF OZ.  I have come to appreciate it again, and love it more than I did as a kid.  Not exactly what I'd call "endlessly watchable" it is close...  it should be well known on this forum that RCMerchant hates ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.  I like it, but understand anybody hating any film.  I mean, I hate THE SOUND OF MUSIC.   :teddyr:

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE

I think you're mentioned that before.  I like that one too, but it has been over-shown for decades... being in the public domain.

I dig it.  POLAR EXPRESS was on, it looks great, I called it "kid stuff" and went to my computer.
There are some good ideas in that manipulative drively protracted nonsense; none are realized and visuals are all.
Ugh it is too many TOM HANKS and though I like him, I aint a fan.  So the "trick" DON'T WORK.  Man I hate that movie.   :hatred:

^ I thought the whole planet liked the SOUND OF MUSIC.

Ronny, a few years ago you asked for our favourite 1960s horror films and I put The Sound of Music on top of my list

My least favourite film was and is ET The Extraterrestrial: I found it blasphemous.

I'm a wee tad disappointed that How Murray Saved Christmas didn't catch on, even though I can understand why...

And now that we have rabbit ear stations dedicated exclusively to those good old classic baddies, I'm a little annoyed that http://www.badmovies.org/movies/santaclaus/ or http://www.badmovies.org/movies/santamars/ don't get any airplay, along with a few others on Andrew's list...

I don't think Polar Express is really a movie everyone loves.

It's pretty polarizing. Especially for its uncanny valley faces.

I always own hyperbole and wear it like a badge.
POLAR EXPRESS is popular enough to be broadcast multiple times at this time of year thru various outlets.  It's huge.  Like polar bear droppings.

never even heard of it.

for me it's probably HEAT... thought it was rubbish, but everyone seemed to fall over themselves in a rush to praise it

ROCKY.

And pretty much all boxing movies.

I haven't looked at ROCKY in decades, and don't need to.  I like some boxing movies like THE SET UP or RAGING BULL or THE HARDER THEY FALL (BOGART's last movie).
