Ambient settings, but with electric guitar (and sometimes drums). I like it.

"Mahōgakkō" by Hakushi Hasegawa. Avant-garde electronica from Japan. Melodic parts, but generally challenging stuff.

This is trip-hop.

Not my pick, someone else wanted to hear it.

Kampire Presents: A Dancefloor in Ndola. Obscure bands and no dates given, but sounds like afrobeat from the 1970s to 1990.

"The Bed I Made" by The Softies. Appropriately named band.

"WeirdOs" by O. Appropriately named album.

I'm usually skeptical of debut recordings of 17th century composers, but these are pretty good. No idea why Stradella was neglected.

The recent passing of former Great White vocalist Jack Russell prompted me to fill a couple of long-standing holes in my G.W. collection. These CDs arrived yesterday so they'll be in rotation all this week:

Shot in the Dark (1986; Japan press w/OBI strip)

"Romance" by FONTAINES D.C. I like the first track, but when did 80s New Wave revival bands become a thing?

"Imaginal Disk" by Magdalena Bay. "Left-field pop." I would have thought the appeal was limited, but it seems to be selling well.

zombie no.one

new(ish) album by THE FAUNS. I know the main songwriter/bassist, but that is not a contributing factor to me genuinely liking it... 80s shoegaze/synthpoppy vibes

This dude would have cleaned up with divorcees in a singles bar in 1972.

"Meditations on Love" by Susanna

Lots of familiar TV & movie themes, a couple of cool jazz crossover tracks, and a lot of "beautiful music." This collection will help you understand why it was so easy for rock to take over the airwaves in the 60s.
