Anything Goes, Cole Porter. I'm going to have to write updated lyrics for this someday.

fascinating if ultimately pretty crappy "yacht rock" sort of number. kind of like Christopher Cross' "Sailing" combined with Jimmy Buffet or something (tropical theme)

circa mid 80's

Never been that big a fan of Skynyrd, but this seemed appropriate for a day like today...

Bonnie & Clyde, Serge Gainsbourg. I'm not bad at spoken French, just not the best at reading and writing it, and I used to listen to French music to brush up before I went there, and found this song years ago.

Dancing Barefoot, covered by U2. I remember where I was when I first heard this, it was in the late '80s, I was in a car with my mom crossing the Ohio River on the "Big Mac Bridge" and I got chills, like I would with only one other song when I first heard it, that being The End, by The Doors. (It was years before I realized Patti Smith wrote Dancing Barefoot.)

Never heard this version before...
Sometime in the past ten years, I started listening to the version by Patti Smith...

Crystal Japan, David Bowie. Sometimes Bowie's image is focused on so much that his musical talent gets lost. Exhibit A for why that's a mistake:
