Are you a doomer, ralfy?

I say "realist".

You might enjoy the interview with this guy (who also calls himself a realist). He's an academic runs an online "casino" where you can "bet" on climate disasters (including carbon levels): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nui67G-g2Q

What interests me is not how bleak things are for the planet ecologically, I accept that, but how we respond to it on a human level.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I don't see anything wrong with what he said, which is why I still watch B-movies. Coping mechanisms are part of the human condition.

What's notable, though, is the speed in which changes are taking place, and how little scientists know about what's happening. Even CO2 ppm became an issue only because they decided to investigate it, and only because someone bothered to measure and collect that data by himself for decades. I think it was narrated in the "Climate Wars" docu.

Two decades ago, they began to detect over 50 multiple feedback loops, several of which they didn't realize had to be studied because they were amplifying warming.

Meanwhile--and this is known only because some media outlets bothered to report on them--several military forces, insurers, and multinational banks have been issuing detailed reports to clients and personnel warning of both the effects of climate change (plus ecological disaster) and of peak oil (and generally a resource crunch), and to prepare accordingly. Several of these groups include the U.S. military, Lloyds of London, and HSBC.

^ Ahhh! I see your having a nice day!

That's weather. The nothingburger's climate.

I want my nothing burger with onions, mustard, mayo, and horseradish!

(dontaskevelyndontaskevelyndontaskevelyn) ralfy, I'm tying to figure out your post. Are you saying grammatically that's how RC should have typed that?

It's just that if that's how you write I was thinking you might be a descendant of Emily Dickinson's secret love child. See how she wrote? Lots of weird dashes?

It lay unmentioned - as the Sea

But only to Himself - be known

Nothingburger implies something inconsequential. Presumably anything applied to it should have the same characteristics even though it should be doing the opposite, i.e., make it taste better.

I think she used dashes. The ones in my post are hyphens.

Three smells I never get tired of:

Freshly cut grass
Rain falling on hot concrete
Lime
What does not kill me makes me stranger.
