Somebody in florida wants to make it easier to kill bears....
The confusing part, is that the lamestream nooz is saying they just want to kill "black" bears, whereas the tabloids are saying they want to kill "crack" bears.....

I remember when Valentine's Day was a time for grand romantic gestures, getaways, snuggles under warm blankets watching snow fall through the windows, sweet little tokens of our lasting love. I guess that's all over, because you know how we've celebrated today? A quickie and then going over our tax audit paperwork.

When I was a kid back in 1970, this nut was all over the News, and my Dad usta say- "If you don't be good, I'll send you to live with Charlie!"

And being as we just got out of the foster homes, I believed him!

I reckon that's part of the reason I am fascinated by the Manson Family.

I own these 2 magazines!

The Internet thinks there was a 1990s movie with Sinbad called Shazaam. Well, this movie never existed. People got it confused with Shaq's Kazaam, and the made for TV short film Aliens for Breakfast, with Sinbad playing a genie.

Then you have conspiracy nuts going out of their way creating fake tapes, to add fuel to the fire, as seen above.

However, they used the Disney logo on the slip and MCA on the tape  :teddyr:

Y'know what's charmingly peculiar about Ireland? You'll be listening to the radio and along on a regular basis will come the announcer giving these notices that someone has died. I don't mean someone like a movie star or even the mayor of a city, just like:

"Sorry to be saying today that at one o'clock this afternoon Mrs. Maub O'Shay of Salt Hill passed away at age seventy-one in St. Stephen's Hospital after a brief illness. All condolences are offered to her family."

And then a commercial will roll. Death is huge there and not lurid and not shunned. It's strange but it's also earthy and fitting.

Back at Christmastime my friends Rob and Tara put in a Christmas card what they thought my Dungeons and Dragons stats would be, if I were (as I am in real life) a character in the game, saying I had on a 3-18 scale:

Strength: 11 (Yeah, I am always getting told I should work on that.)
Intelligence: 14
Wisdom: 11 (Yeah, it is unwise of me to have given him and his wife so much money over the years.)
Dexterity: 16
Constitution: 14
Charisma: 16
Comeliness: 14

Well they sent me a Valentine's Day card that summed me up in the mana colors of Magic the Gathering, saying I was composed of:

40% blue mana.
25% white mana.
20% green mana.
10% red mana.
5% black mana.

Sounds about right-ish.

I still haven't heard anybody explain how that new law in Alabama prevents clinics from using frozen embryos.....

As it says in the article, it comes down to potential legal issues that are currently being evaluated. Not a lawyer, but I'd imagine getting clarification on the practical applications of new laws wouldn't be an uncommon thing.

My guess would be that if something goes wrong and something happens to the egg, since it counts as a child that the medical professional is then possibly guilty of some variety of murder, but I'd need to really study things to give more than a simple answer.

Because to have a good chance at getting a woman pregnant through IVF they have to create more embryos than will be carried to term. From the Mayo clinic description of IVF (highlighting mine):

"How many embryos will be transferred?" The number of embryos placed in the uterus often is based on age and the number of eggs collected. Since the rate of fertilized eggs attaching to the lining of uterus is lower for older people, usually more embryos are transferred — except for people who use donor eggs from a young person, genetically tested embryos or in certain other cases.

Most health care professionals follow specific guidelines to prevent a multiple pregnancy with triplets or more. In some countries, legislation limits the number of embryos that can be transferred. Make sure you and your care team agree on the number of embryos that will be placed in the uterus before the transfer procedure.

"What will you do with any extra embryos?" Extra embryos can be frozen and stored for future use for many years. Not all embryos will survive the freezing and thawing process, but most will.

Having frozen embryos can make future cycles of IVF less expensive and less invasive. Or you might be able to donate unused frozen embryos to another couple or a research facility. You also might choose to discard unused embryos. Make sure you feel comfortable making decisions about extra embryos before they are created.

100% true weird exchange I had....

Person: "I'll give you a nickel to have sex with me."

Me: "Wouldn't that make me a prostitute?"

Person: "You kidding, a prostitute wouldn't have sex with someone for a nickel."

Tonight's stinker
The Astounding She-Monster (1957)

The twenty minutes or so is driven by a rather annoying Narrator who aint no Rod Serling, especially on a mic that's too hot....
The "monster" is a woman in a leotard, who moves so slowly, that the cast escapes several times by running right past her!
There's a subplot about a kidnapping, & the hero is a geologist who has some acid on hand...

Tonight's stinker
The Mysterious Monsters (1975), A sort of Bigfoot docudrama...

Must admit, Peter Graves gives a pretty god performance as the Narrator, in spite of the abysmal audio & grating soundtrack... (Seriously, I think this movie induced a very painful tinnitus...)
Kinda surprised just how much of this "documentary" has been debunked, disproven, or revealed as a hoax over the pest forty-five years or so...
