Notorious underground/Indie shot on VHS horror about a zombie invasion with art house moments. I remember this one came highly recommended from my mail order company. They advertised it as "extreme" and a "dare to watch". "It goes places mainstream horror was afraid to go" or something like that.
This was one of my first mail order movies. When I popped it in the vcr I already knew after less than a minute that Shatter Dead was going to be awful. Very unappealing movie and literally a chore to sit through. I must be a sucker for suffering because I re-bought the movie from the DVD bin in the late 90s or early 2000s. It still sucked and not in a good way.
Well, it is 2021 and Shatter Dead made its debut on Blu-ray in November. According to reviews picture and audio quality are excellent, and the disc comes with tons of extras. For those seeking out weirdness on physical media, this might be it. Myself won't upgrade my old DVD.
