early Hitchcock

Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

I believe in the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

21 The Lodger (1944)

1944? That wasn't a silent film....

meant The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, fixed it after I realized something didn't look right

22. the MAN WHO LAUGHS (1928)

Conrad Veidt in early Jack (FRANKENSTEIN) Pierce make-up!

I find it always amazing how a film, or an artist, even almost 100 years later, still is there.
Bob Kane's Joker. To the 1966 BATMAN TV show (my favorite Batman on film), to all the Joker's in all the new stuff.
It is amazing.
Except in the film, the scary looking guy- Gwynplaine- is not a villain.
