When I was working, I always liked driving a forklift. Lift truck drivers would race in the warehouse. Outside you could drive the old Farmall tractors and take the 2 track into the factory dump in road gear, while drinking out of a pocket bottle! I miss my s**tty job.  Bluesad

Once Mike the mechanic, Dwight- a big doofus lift truck driver, my buddy Tom, and Charlie, a sawed off lift truck driver whose cowboy hat was bigger than him, were sitting in the break room picnic table. And we were talking about food! And I asked little Charlie- " Ever have Fumunda cheese?"
He said "no- what's that?"
I said " Fumunda my balls!"
Dwight spit his coffee across the table! Charlie was not happy!  BounceGiggle

Ugh...I never thought I would miss my job.  Bluesad

Getting paid. Getting time off.  Getting sent to nice hotels and having someone else pay the bill. Not having to do guard duty anymore.  BounceGiggle

In a more serious note, working in a mostly quite relaxed office, being able to get out for an hour or two or work from home when I need to. Highly discounted housing. There are a lot of advantages to my job.

When I was at the noozpaper, there was always the part of the Saturday shift when the bundles of noozpapers would go rolling on down the line & out a window....
The rest of the time, we had to grab them off the line & load them onto pallets or into cages....

Stacks would come out of the stacker gate, down the first stretch of the line, then through the bander, then down the back half of the line where we only needed a spotter to make sure the bander didn't screw up....

And I would always try to get to the back first for two reasons, the first obviously being it was easy, the second being that I was the only person willing to spot.....
Anybody else out of the whole plant would grab an empty spool to sit on, put their head down on the line & try & catch some Zs in all that noise..... Sure enough, the bander would screw up, & loose bundles would roll right past that sleeping spotter right on out the window.....
But Not On My Watch!

I love nearly everything about my job.  I teach all the secondary history courses at a small private school, and I have my students every year from 7th grade till they graduate.  I love the relationships I build with them, the academic freedom that goes with not being state funded, how much fun we have learning history, and the ability to talk about my faith and spiritual matters with them.  It's a perfect fit for me - honestly, I enjoy my job more than I do my home life these days.
For some folks, jobs are a source of stress, but most days, my job is a relief from stress.

Uh me and one of my coworkers can talk about uh kinky stuff >.>
I can listen to my music while I work.
Me and the butcher usually talk s**t about each other in a joking manner.
I get to drive the forklift at work, be it taking off pallets from the truck or to do the bale.

One advantage to working at a noozpaper, is that you know about all the sales a week in advance....

Except for the Thanksgiving day doorbusters, which we knew about a month in advance, but we couldn't go to the because we had to work that day....

There's not much I don't like about my job which was a perfect fit for a movie obsessed person. I get the biggest thrill from helping people and making a difference.  TeddyR

I took a twenty-five year retirement last year but in my time working for the Company I went to a lot of places. Sometimes the places were nice, sometimes not, but it's fair to say I never would have been to most of these locales had I stayed on track to become a college professor, as I nearly did. A few years ago I was in Turkey, which was a much nicer country than I expected, and the people were some of the kindest I have ever met. I was also in the UK a lot early on with my job, and sometimes I was able to visit historical sites I always wanted to see, which was a thrill to a history nerd like me.

But you know, the (paying) job I enjoyed most was the few years in the '10s I worked with my dad when I could fit in the time around my other job. I wish he'd re-open his office, closed during the pandemic, but I fear those days have flown.

It's the same routine every day, which I definitely like.  Clean 7A, 7D, 9A, Chemo and Dialysis wards.  When I'm done spend the rest of the day on detail work.

It pays well.  A smidge over 20 an hour.  I can still pay all my bills no problem and live comfortably.

The current supervisors I get along with very well and we moved on from the facilities management chiefs that were beyond awful.

I almost never work overtime.

A supervisor seldom bugs me and if they do it's usually just to shoot the sh*t.

Gonna stick with this job till I'm ready to retire (about 65) and I should well have the house paid off by then.

Nightshift. It is a love/hate thing though. I love working nightshift, but it messes up your routine and what not. I always need 2-3 days to adjust to "daytime" again after one week nightshift.
