I found out that the British racing film SILVER DREAM RACER is an almost exact copy of the 1978 SA movie THE FIFTH SEASON. A few differences here and there but it is the same movie, right down to the hero having a huge bike accident at the end of the film 🏍️😳

Night Visitor (1989) is a blatant rip off of Fright Night (1985). Night Visitor even copied all characters from Fright Night.

The writer claims he was inspired by the murders and capture of serial killer Richard Ramirez in August 1985. He does not mention that Fright Night was also playing theaters in August of 1985, which is obviously his true inspiration.

Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes (1977) is a terror classic, but once you've seen Barn of the Naked Dead (1973) you have to wonder where Craven got the (idea) inspiration from.
Way too many similarities that I think go beyond coincidence.

Since The Hearse (1980) was released to theaters one year before The Nesting (1981) one has to wonder if The Nesting was inspired by The Hearse.

both women starting new all over after a traumatic event
both seeing a psychiatrist
both leaving the big city behind
both living in a haunted house with dark secrets somewhere in rural hicksville
both women receiving flowers from admirer
both women chased in their cars
both women drinking a glass of milk

I wonder how many films there are on successful female authors whose husbands are cheating on them and try to drive them mad (quite often following the death of a child)?

Sergio Martino's Torso (1973) is considered to be one of the first slasher films ever made. John Carpenter has said that Halloween (1978) was inspired by Hitchcock's Psycho (1960).

First time I watched Torso I got a strong deja-vu feeling when the masked killer shows up in a forest/swamp. The way it was shot was very "Michael Myers" like. Even the score by Guido and Maurizio De Angelis sounded similar to Carpenter's classic Halloween score.

I always thought Carpenter got some inspiration from Torso regarding the way the killer is presented.

Still a fun movie, though.
