65. THE DAMNED (1969)
Acclaimed Italian/German/English production involving a rich family working in munitions under the thumb of the growing Nazi Party in the 1930s, and their family dynamics break down completely.  X for sex/nudity/violence/disturbing themes.  Cut decades later for an R rating.

66. AFRICA ADDIO [AKA AFRICA BLOOD AND GUTS] (1966)

Retro's choice of GOODBYE UNCLE TOM reminded me of this one, Jacopetti and Prosperi's absolutely disgusting and borderline racist documentary about colonial Africa. The negative reaction and accusations of racism inspired them to make UNCLE TOM. Cut to receive an "R" in some places but longer cuts were released both as "X" and "adults only."

67. DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)
George Romero's sequel to NIGHT OF and DAWN.  Research scientists and the military hole up in an underground bunker to take shelter from zombie attacks.  Plentiful gore led to the blurb NO ONE UNDER 17 ADMITTED.

69. BURIAL GROUND: THE NIGHTS OF TERROR (1981)
Bad (sometimes bad/good) zombie flick concerning zombies being accidentally released by an archaeology professor from an ancient crypt and attacking a group of the professor's friends.  NO ONE UNDER 17 ADMITTED for heavy gore and some nudity.  The big showstopper involves a boy zombie biting off his mom's boob!

70. Emanuelle (1974)

The original softcore chic film. Rated X.

71. POUND (1970)
Weird film about dogs waiting to be adopted at a pound.  The thing is, they're played by human actors!  They talk about their lives, hopes, dreams, etc., and have sex.  Rated X for said sex.  Directed by Robert Downey, and featuring his son in his film debut.
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

72. CANNIBAL FEROX (1981)
Ultra-nasty cannibal film banned in numerous countries.  A drug deal leads a group of people from New York to the jungles of the Amazon, where cruelty towards the natives there lead to terrible, violent consequences.  Some video sleeves had the NO ONE UNDER 17 type of blurb-- and it's not enforced like a theater would, but I will still include it since it's certainly violent enough to warrant it.  Directed by Umberto Lenzi (MAN FROM DEEP RIVER, EATEN ALIVE, EYEBALL).

75. VIXEN! (1968)
When her husband is off to work flying tourists around the Canadian mountains, the wife gets lonely... and horny!  Russ Meyer directs, and star Erica Gavin and Harrison Paige also appeared in his 1970 film BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS.  Prior to her film career, Gavin was a topless dancer in Hollywood with Tura Satana and Haji, who starred in FASTER, p***yCAT!  KILL!  KILL!  Rated X for sex/nudity.

77. END OF THE ROAD (1970)
Stacy Keach, Harris Yulin and James Earl Jones star in this weird but acclaimed film involving a professor (previously an asylum inmate) who ruins his career and life with an adulterous affair.  Rated X for sex/nudity.  Re-rated R decades later.
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

78. GEMINI AFFAIR (1975)
Marta Kristen of LOST IN SPACE stars in a dull drama about an actress having an affair with a call girl while sharing an apartment in Hollywood.  They come to realize Hollywood just isn't for them.  X for sex/nudity.  B-movie regular George "Buck" Flower appears.  Also rated R, perhaps cut.
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

79. LE GRANDE BOUFFE (1973)

Four men meet in a chateau to eat themselves to death. Stars a bunch of major European leading men, led by Marcello Mastroianni. Originally rated X, cut for an R, and apparently rereleased as NC-17 at some point. Pretty gross, but would likely be a hard "R" if rated today.
