80. DEAD ALIVE/BRAIN DEAD (1992)
Zombie gorefest from future Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson!  New Zealand film set in the 1950s, in which a timid young man tries to get out from under the heel of his domineering mother and have a romance with a Latina neighbor.  The mother soon is bitten by an exotic "rat monkey" and turned into a zombie, spreading the disease to the local populace.  NO ONE UNDER 17 ADMITTED for tons and tons of gore, nearly all of it of a darkly humorous bent.  Showstoppers: an old-style lawnmower is used to thin the zombie population, the zombifying mother trying to look presentable in front of guests, a stroll with a zombie baby at the park, and many others.  Highly enjoyable if you have a strong stomach.

81. SUPERSTITION (1982)
Gory (but otherwise pretty dull) horror flick about the spirit of a witch striking back at the ancestors of those who burned her at the stake.  NO ONE UNDER 17 WILL BE ADMITTED for heavy violence.

82. MAN BITES DOG (1992)

"Given an NC-17 by the Motion Picture Association of America for 'strong graphic violence'" (including a gang rape).
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

83. KIDS (1995)
The titular kids smoke, drink, skateboard and screw.  One in particular-- adept in the latter-- infects another with HIV.  Disturbing, realistic film by Larry Clark.  NC-17 for much of the above.  Chloe Sevigny and Rosario Dawson appear.

Hey Russel, I considered posting KIDS but didn't think it met your criteria. Per Wikipedia: "It received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA, but was released without a rating."

This one was definitely NC-17, although they also released a cut "R"-rated version:

I think KIDS did get released as NC-17, then got Unrated.  IMDB counts it as NC-17.  Sometimes it seems Wiki and IMDB are at odds with each other over this matter.  Eh, I'll back off my earlier stance a bit.  Both Wiki and IMDB have had their share of fallacies in the past.

85. ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS (1975)
The first of many Nazisploitation movies starring the voluptuous Dyanne Thorne.  Here, she is a feared Nazi commander who performs cruel experiments on captive women to make them stronger, to serve under her.  She also castrates any man who cannot sexually satisfy her.  Initially released as rated X for sex/nudity and violence.  Later re-rated R.  Filmed on the same set as Hogan's Heroes!  Ilsa is loosely based on the actual wife of an SS Commander, Ilse Koch (The B*tch Of Buchenwald).

86. Salon Kitty (1976) AKA Madame Kitty

More Nazisploitation.

87. TARZOON: SHAME OF THE JUNGLE (1975)
Another 1970s animated film to get an X-rating, a few years after FRITZ THE CAT.  This is a French cartoon involving a Tarzan-type character and his attempts to rescue his girlfriend June from a tribe of penis creatures.  Stupid.  Released as rated X for animated sex/nudity/violence.  Later re-rated R.  Also dubbed into English.

88. KILLER SNAKES/SHE SHA SHOU (1974)
Put-upon, deranged young man uses his ability to communicate with snakes and gets revenge on his tormentors.  Hong Kong flick that utilizes the same plot formula used in a number of other flicks, but this one is decidedly sleazier.  Initially rated X upon its US release, possibly R or Unrated later, with nudity, sexual situations, violence and actual snake killings.  A Shaw Brothers production.

89. The Story of O (1975)

B&D/S&M themed feature from the director of "Emmanuelle"

90. VANESSA (1977)
Young woman inherits a chain of brothels.  Rated X for sex/nudity.  Later re-rated R.  West German film shot in China, Hong Kong, Austria and Thailand.  Perhaps more noted for its appearance on late-night cable.

Do self-applied X ratings count? If not, just ignore this one.

91. Higher and Higher (1970)

German/Swiss co-production. (S)exploitation about two groupies following rock bands and exploring drugs. I own this on Blu-ray, the film is unintentionally hilarious, with a jaw-dropping ending. Usually advertised as a Roger Corman production, but it is not. Played theaters in Europe in 1970, followed by a US release in 1971 with a self-applied X rating. Couldn't find a poster with the X-rating, though. Higher and Higher was rated 18 in Germany, and then re-rated for its home video release with an 16 rating.

Is it October yet?

Yes, it counts!  I covered this film on another site with a similar X/NC-17/NOU17A thread.  The director/producer ran afoul of the Hells Angels because one of their girls was nude in the film.
