Class of 1999 came out in 1990.
Then it's sequel class of 1999 II came out in 1994.  (Although they do say in the movie that two years have passed so it's 2001.  They just didn't retitle the movie.)

Try to beat this: the 1982 film Class of 1984 is set in ... 1984.
Is it October yet?

It always gets me that the original X-men movie was set "in the near future" while it's sequels were in the present.

I guess that near future" really was near.

Predator 2 took place in 1997, IIRC.

Granted, with Terminator 2 and Predator 2's future settings, they were both early 90's films set in the late 90's, so the differences weren't THAT egregious. Sort of like how the original Resident Evil game came out in 1996 but was set in 1998.
