Quote from: claws on July 27, 2024, 07:39:25 AMSmall town movie theaters. There used to be quite a few back in the day, but they died out during the rise of the multiplex in the 1990s.

We still have the Strand in Paw Paw- about 6 miles from Lawton-

$6.00 a ticket. $4.00 on Mon., Tues., and Wed.

Quote from: Alex on July 27, 2024, 11:08:31 AMI still see a lot of metalheads around. Being one helps there I guess. I don't often see punks around though.

I used to see metalheads in our town. They were usually easy to spot. Haven't seen any in a long time. Maybe they changed their looks and style? No idea.

Our town's yearly renaissance fair is popular with goth folk. I never see goth people all year around, but they do show up for the fair.
Is it October yet?

Goths disolve into dust if they get too much sunlight. Or if they smile.  :bouncegiggle:

There is (or was) one a few towns away from where I live. I think it closed for awhile (maybe during COVID) but it might have reopened. I'll need to find out.

Quote from: Trevor on July 18, 2024, 03:55:46 AMAlso video rental places are almost entirely gone here ☹️

It was a pain in the butt to return videos, and not to forget to rewind  :bouncegiggle: I do have fond memories of renting tapes because there was no other option back in the day.

A video rental store in 2024 would probably do zero business. I'd bet most of this generation doesn't even know what a video rental store is, or probably laugh at the concept.

related to this post:

3-wheeled cars.

used to see them around a bit when I was a kid. not seen one probably in 25 years plus? are they even a thing any more? they always looked very odd.

also, 'motorbike and side-car'

again, not an everyday sighting when I was a kid, but they were definitely about. apparently obsolete now - wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of club or appreciation society keeping them alive though. going out on big organised drive-arounds together
Quotethe movie was cringe, corny, cheesy and "what the biscuits" is with this atrocious acting and childish corny thing of a movie???

Actual vans.  Not work vans.  Not mini-vans, just regular old vans. That people drive their entire families around in.

Table-top radios.
Satellite TV dishes in people's yards. There's one on my property. No clue how long it's been there.
Cards (baseball etc.) with gum in them. Not that the gum was any good-
