Anyone gonna see this? Looks pretty interesting to me.
It's got William Defao who is always good.

Indy and Dr. Whom both recommended it. I haven't seen it yet, but I almost certainly will.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

It is a labour of love. Contrary to many adaptations, where they throw out everything that made the original unique and replace it with some cookie cutter set up that will resonate with modern audiences, here is a guy who truly likes the source material, and pays homage to what he loves about it.

It is very unmodern, dialogue and attitudes are kept deliberately Dickensian, there are no spectacular action scenes or socially relevant themes. Also the lore sticks quite closely to the original vampire folklore. If you go in looking for something like Abigail or Renfield, you may be disappointed. If you like Murnau and Hammer, on the other hand...

I reviewed it earlier this week in the "Recent Viewings" thread.  I found it stellar, and one historian I follow on Twitter was blown away by the accuracy of the setting, costumes, dialogue - even saying that the script in which Orlock's "contract" was written was, in fact, a rare 12th century language from Romania. A brilliant tour de force!
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

It also is an unironic melodrama, so your mileage may vary. It does have a lot of trappings of the real world, but it remains a fable at heart.

Makes sense from the creator of the Witch, which based a lot of the dialogue, belief and events of the Witch on period writings.  I hope he gets infinity money to make whatever he wants forever.
