Director Charles B Griffith said making the film was a "terrible experience". When Griffith was done filming in the Philippines, he sent the footage ahead before returning to America. By the time he got back, Roger Corman had already trimmed Up From the Depths down to 75 minutes. Griffith said his version was much longer and was now missing key elements, fleshed out characters and such.

The movie was never restored to this day. It's awful as it is, but I wouldn't mind seeing a director's cut.
Is it October yet?

Starcrash.

Studio or distributor cut some even clunkier dialogue for some versions.

Akton: "We've just survived an attack of the most powerful weapon in the entire galaxy!"
Stella: "We have?"
Akton: "Yeah. Count Zartharn, watch out!"

Plus some dialogue on the bridge of the Leinster was cut - the dubbing was particularly bad.

The South African film MAJUBA (1968) ran for 165 minutes at its first screenings and was both a box-office and critical success. Shortly thereafter, the distributors MGM South Africa cut almost half of the film out, trimming it down to 99 minutes.

The footage was destroyed and not archived ☹️

I believe all the 80s FRIDAY 13TH installments were quite heavily censored before release, but PART 7 especially so... the 'death by sleeping bag vs. tree' and 'death by hedge strimmer' scenes were originally way more explicit, but most of the footage has been lost apparently

They gorier scenes in the BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE (1959) were cut by AIP upon distribution in 1962.
Of course they've been restored.

The good old USA cut most of the gorier stuff in all the best Italian Zombie and Cannibal movies.

I DRINK YOUR BLOOD (1970) was missing the self immolation scene, the gang bang in the shower by rabid psychos scene, the rat BBQ scene, and a lot more. It was butchered. I didn't see an uncut version until 1994. And that was a bootleg VHS from one of those catalogs you find in Fangoria magazine. I think it was Video Search of Miami.

I love that movie.

my copy of Lenzi's EATEN ALIVE has all of the cannibalism scenes removed, lol... good job they added exactly zero to the plot anyway.

that's reminded me,it was only after seeing the new blu ray release of HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK last year, that I realised when I first watched it , whatever version it was had cut out not just most of the violence, but also the twist ending!!! I always thought the film seemed a bit pointless and just 'ended', lol
