So I was looking through the forums for the best place to shameless promotion something of mine and realized that people did different threads for each promotion, I figured this could be a one click spot for people to pimp out their blog entries, articles, short film, website, podcast, etc.
Anyway I have 3 things to promote today... two are blog entries I wrote last week that have been getting a decent amount of love
My blog entry about 10 f**ked up movies to show at parties made it on IMDb's Hit List this week - http://saintmort.blogspot.com/2011/07/even-sound-wont-save-you.html (http://saintmort.blogspot.com/2011/07/even-sound-wont-save-you.html)
My other blog entry about 10 movies that ruined everyday activities made it on slashfilm this week -
http://saintmort.blogspot.com/2011/08/why-my-childhood-was-less-than-normal.html (http://saintmort.blogspot.com/2011/08/why-my-childhood-was-less-than-normal.html)
And finally if anyone lives in the Los Angeles arena I'll be making my LA stand up debut at Michael Bar & Grille at the Geekscape Presents: Geekscape and the Raiders of the Lost Geek comedy show. It's a free show, free parking and 1/2 off Appettizers so there's better reasons than me to come!
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=156146777794270 (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=156146777794270)
how about you guys? What do you have to promote?
Sounds cool...
Currently I'm looking for a *pen name*
I just finished my 4th script "Dancing Swords" which is based upon a sidestory/flashback story (or whatever it's called) in my first unplublished book "Lifelines"; although in the book the flashback story wasnt as detailed... and I've also adjusted the content so Dancing Swords isnt as dark as my book.
The other scripts:
3rd script: "Revenge Taste Very Sweet, My Love" is a giallo like slasher story that's inspired form a public domain movie "Breakout from Oppression (1978?)" [I question the year since the ending is a frame-by-frame copy of Friday the 13th] and Jeffrey Dahmer attempt to make a zombie slave.
2rd script: "Missing Persons" inspired from the ending of Pieces and a short scene from Day of the Dead. The story takes place about 30 years after the Zombie Invasion when man has finally figured a way to control the zombie ambush by wearing a "Lifeline Device" it's a specially designed neckband that cuts the person head off after being dead for at least 10 mins. In the story, a psycho has a device that activates the Lifelines. My script was ok but I felt it need more so I rewritten the story into my first book "Lifelines"
1st script: "The Next Mission". It's Blade Runner, Mad Max, Apocalypse Now, and Pulp Fiction put into the blender.
Secretly coordinated by General James, Richard Lancer is on his Next Mission. What is it? Richard has no clue. Because the person in charge, Major Sid is under a 'Classified Class 10,' which a brain bomb is implanted in one's head, and if that person tell any secrets the bomb will explode. What Richard does know it is down the great old Mississippi River, and that's something that he does not like. Why? For starters is a dividing line between the A-Bee's and us. For the second part, it's in a "BOAT!"
(I have no plans in reworking The Next Mission so if anybody would like to read the script; pm me with your email address and I'm happy to send it to you)
Now that you got me thinking about it, I have nothing to promote. My life is rather vacant and pointless. I think I'll go have a good cry.

I sell good quality Indian Arrowheads on EBay at very reasonable prices . . .
Sellername indianasmith1 . Auctions usually close Sunday night.
Not to be a dick, but shouldn't the title say "shameless self promotion" rather than "selfless promotion?" I don't believe the thread is altruistic in nature.
I was gonna mention that and I forgot. Isn't selfless self promotion an ontological impossibility?

Living In Oblivion. Great movie. The scene where Buscemi and Dinklage discuss Dinklage's role is awesome!
[Little person Tito is not happy with the dream sequence]
Tito: Why does my character have to be a dwarf?
Nick: He doesn't have to be.
Tito: Then why is he? Is that the only way you can make this a dream, to put a dwarf in it?
Nick: No, Tito, I...
Tito: Have you ever had a dream with a dwarf in it? Do you know anyone who's had a dream with a dwarf in it? No! I don't even have dreams with dwarves in them. The only place I've seen dwarves in dreams is in stupid movies like this! "Oh make it weird, put a dwarf in it!". Everyone will go "Woah, this must be a f**kin' dream, there's a f**kin' dwarf in it!". Well I'm sick of it! You can take this dream sequence and stick it up your ass!
Oh, god, I love that movie.
And thank you for the positive comments on the video. I'm holding off making it public until I can get about 5 videos uploaded. Nothing more sad than a channel premiere with one or two videos.
Plus, I'm waiting to see if I get any copyright strikes. Youtube policy is "you're guilty until proven innocent, but only if your accuser says you are -- and they won't".
My press credentials were approved for the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal.
This means that, if I'm lucky, I will get the chance to interview Takashi (AUDITION, ICHI THE KILLER) Miike face to face! (Through an interpreter, of course).
And don't forget, guys, that I have THREE novels available on Amazon right now, and that my Amazon Sales Rank SUCKS!!
So if you can spare the coin, buy or download them. Heck, after you do that, READ THEM TOO!!! :teddyr:

That's because the people who shop Amazon wouldn't recognize good writing, if it fell out of the sky and hit them in the head. Your books are on my list to read. It is just that I have a half dozen books ahead of them on my list of books I need to read. And here's to better sales.
I thank you for that and I do hope you enjoy them when you get the time to read them.
The problem with Amazon is that they list 100,000 new titles a month. It's easy to get overlooked.

An animation I did. Its possibly the first in a series. I've got some ideas for others, but its about rotoscoping animals, particularly reptiles.

Wow, that's cool! I used to visit Cracked all the time. Admittedly though, sometimes when I go there nowadays a web script for some of the ads gums up my browser, but still. Articles are pretty cool!
Pretty good article! Thought the Superman one was the craziest. To be honest, the thing with DragonQuest and Japan didn't really surprise me a whole hell of a lot because, well, it's Japan.

I used to goof around with Photoshop alot, doing pics and stuff for whatever idea would pop into my head, and restoring old photos. If you have any old photos you'd like me to take a look at and try to fix/clean up, let me know!
Only catch is I may use them for my Upwork profile later.
Oh, yeah, I've got an Upwork profile. Been trying to find some freelance work on there, but not much luck so far. Course, I haven't put a lot of effort into it so far, cause I've been busy with other things and, part of me feels I need to step back and learn some more stuff before I try to jump into that pile (whether it be trying to do a job in Photoshop or Data Entry or Customer Service). For starters, I'm working with a new version of Photoshop (Elements 14, as opposed to regular Photoshop 7.0), so, in some ways it's like learning stuff all over again..
Anyhoo.. getting off subject. Check out my movies if you want! Got another one I'm trying to start on (which, I need to figure out Adobe Premiere Elements for.)

Also I'm giving away my HIM book during the week of Cyber Monday. If you really, really want the read the book now it'll cost you 5.99... It's not a bad price, too... :)

It's very early in development but I will be sharing free demos on this forum.

My new novel, THEOPHILUS: A TALE OF ANCIENT ROME releases on April 11!!!
I'm working right now on an independent film as a PA. A featured extra didn't show up, so they sent me to wardrobe and now I'm onscreen (assuming my footage is not cut, fingers crossed). About 15 seconds of screen time with no dialogue, but I do make a gesture. More info when the film is released (probably a year from now). I have no desire to be an actor, BTW, I'm on set to write an article about the experience.

Too cool, Indy! Your books are really enjoyable and it's good to see opportunities come up to let people know about them. Congratulations.
Well, ethics aside, I have a new video up on Youtube. I'll see how long it stays up. Things are looking good so far.
I have a channel called Deranged Visions. Very sporadic posting, but I think I have found my spark again. Anyway, you can see the real Javakoala as a talking head in a few of the videos. And, yes, I know I stumble a little -- Okay, A LOT!!!
So, instead of doing a theme, I decided to do a slight mix of Night Flight and a drive-in/grindhouse experience. Yeah, me and a easy dozen others, I know. But I hope I can convey a little something of what it was like watching movies when I was a kid. Except some of these won't be lite films.
The first one is A Scream in the Streets. Sleazy exploitation/sexploitation mixed with a bad cop drama about a murderous rapist on the loose. I will post the link here, but not link the video itself. Insanely NOT SAFE FOR WORK. It is stunning what passed for a hard-R rating back then in the drive-in/grindhouse circuit. But it is no worse than what you'd see in Game of Thrones, except it ain't classy, and the camera lingers WAAAAAY too long sometimes.
Give it a watch, and tell me if you find the clip from Hercules to be funny, or am I the only one?
https://youtu.be/930ZfbvlhUw (https://youtu.be/930ZfbvlhUw)
As of right now, I have 4 drive-in/Night Flight-ish postings on Youtube. Yes, there are feature-length films included. I've tried my best to find obscure or no-longer-available films.
I have a few insane flicks I intend to post soon that aren't even in English. I mean, one is just a monster in a Gestapo outfit who runs around stabbing people. That's about all there is to it.
I also intend to do a series called Deranged Visions in the Classroom. Those episodes will be educational films. Yes, I intend to do a show featuring the highway safety films. I find them frightening, and I'm a lifelong, old-school gorehound. The only thing scarier than the highway safety films are the STD films. Or maybe the geriatric sex videos we watched in in college for our Sex Ed class.
I have needed to do this as a form of therapy. No personal stories, but I will say I needed to "get my groove back", so to speak. I love gathering the materials for these shows as I get to do a little bit of research into the films, as well as raid the stuff at https://archive.org/ (https://archive.org/)
So, check it out. Give me suggestions. Hell, give me a list of hard-to-find titles, and I'll see what I can do.

My gallery on DeviantArt with all the silly game box/movie poster artwork I've done, plus some pencil-drawn crap.

Heh.. that is one of my best. :)
This is my first pod/web/vidcast. I look at how to get the Golden Hammer in the NES classic WRECKING CREW. Goofy experimentation with cheesy effects abounds.

I drew this in 2001.

I was still drawing for the Lawton Depot. I drew for them for 10 years.
But I was just going crazy on the side, just drawing because I loved it.
Have you ever thought about doing some sort of compilation book of your artwork?

Old, like almost a decade old now, I think - but if there are any Blue Oyster Cult fans, I made a flash Eric Bloom soundboard way back when:

If you are ever seeking to support a worthy charity, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is a good one I've given to since I first learned of it in 2011. Since 1962 the MCSF has awarded scholarships to children of USMC service personnel, past and present, "especially sons and daughters of Marines who have fallen in combat." Ninety-five cents of every dollar donated to this foundation goes directly into the scholarships themselves.

I have been challenged to "significantly increase" my sales from Q1 2018 as a precondition to my next novel being accepted getting a contract for publication. So if you have ever thought about purchasing one of my books . . . this would be a good time!!!
(It won't take a ton of sales, either, Q1 of 2018 was pretty slow!)

Actually... if you remember, RC, I offered to help with that. You were also going to send me some artwork to use in the Yearbook I publish annually but you never did. Not a problem, but if you decide you want to try let me know.
You can publish on-demand for no money down.
I should mention that, after ten years, I reached #366 on 366 Weird Movies. I posted a little confessional reflection here (https://366weirdmovies.com/from-366-to-infinity-whats-next/).

You should do it, RC, you're a good artist whose work reminds me of Harvey Pekar or Gerald Scarfe.

You might have seen me in the "Movie Reviews" section over the last few years, but i've been publishing weekly reviews of some of the worst movies ever made for the sick sad enjoyment of my audience. I do cover the off cult classic too (more as a palette cleanse) but I try to be thorough. So if you ever wanted a deep dive of movies like "Alien Species" (1995), "A Robot Called Goldigger" (1993), or "Nutbag" (2000) I might be of interest! here's my channel link!

Being a sucker for old game shows, I thought it might be kind of fun to have the Whammy-- the antagonist from the show PRESS YOUR LUCK-- meet the antagonist from the original show SECOND CHANCE-- the Devil, in a sort of "passing of the torch" moment. Both the Devil and the Whammy robbed the contestants of all winnings if the moving light marker (which moved MUCH faster on SECOND CHANCE than PRESS YOUR LUCK) was stopped on them and 4 such occurrences permanently ended the contestant's game.
SECOND CHANCE ran for less than half a year on ABC daytime in 1977 but was pretty cool for its time. Bill Caruthers, who created it, re-tooled it for PRESS YOUR LUCK 6 years later on CBS for 3 years (and much longer life on the USA Network). PRESS YOUR LUCK has since found new life not only in repeats on Game Show Network and Buzzr, but a new series on ABC with Elizabeth Banks as host.
