Celtic Frost covering Wall Of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio".

I woudn't call this an "awful" cover, it basically sounds like another Celtic Frost original, but it was a strange choice indeed.

Also, Limp Bizkit's cover of Metallica's "Sanitarium" was pretty disgusting.

Actually, the majority of that MTV Icon Metallica show was rife with lousy bands doing awful Metallica covers. You know there's trouble when Avril Lavigne is covering a Metallica song.  :hatred:
"Nothin' out there but God's little creatures - more scared of you than you are of them"  - Warren, "Just Before Dawn"

LITTLE RICHARD had a record "Tutti Frutti" which had already been cleaned up for national release:

PAT BOONE covered it, and had a bigger hit than LITTLE RICHARD (peaking at #12 for a total 10 weeks on the chart versus LITTLE RICHARD's #17 for only 5).      :hatred:  Poor PAT, I'll say it again:  When PAT BOONE went out, he went way out.

Joe the Destroyer

Kittie doing "Da s**t You Can't f**k Wit."  Crappy song to begin with, but getting a nu metal band to cover it was a mistake.

Hole doing "Gold Dust Woman."

Six Feet Under doing "TNT."

I think either Staind or Limp Bizkit did a cover of Tool's "Sober," and I remember it sucking something fierce.

"Monster Mash" by The Misfits
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcOQduHEv08
Mind you, I LOVE the Misfits, but they put out a cover album of '50s/'60s songs, which, I don't mind.  I love that era.  But, well, a lot of people I know hate their version of this song.

'Comfortably Numb" by Scissor Sisters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNdsuZEQ3aQ
Well, the Pink Floyd classic, as a DISCO themed 2000's version.

"My Perogative" by Britney Spears

"Too Cold" by Vanilla Ice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-LNT1r6GRA
I dunno if it counts as a 'cover' since technically, Vanilla Ice just re-recorded Ice Ice Baby as a Rock/Nu-Metal version back when bands like Korn and Disturbed were all the rage with their nu-metal schtick.  But I dunno.  Either way, I kinda prefer the rap version better.

I hate Sweet Caroline to begin with, but Elvis did a really really crappy version of it.
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

the ghoul

I like Bella Morte, but I was very disappointed with their cover of "Earth Angel."  They completely drain the song of every ounce of its soul.  Talk about making a great song boring.

If God exists, why did he make me an atheist? Thats His first mistake.

That whole show was the epitome of disgusting from start to finish and I sadly watched all of it.  Watch the audience members, most of them I doubt would even know how to make devil horns with their hands without prior instructions before the show.

I heard that on the radio the other day... reminded me why I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore.

"Boyz N Tha Hood" by Dynamite Hack

A bizarre mid '90s cover of rapper Eazy E's classic.  Only done in a soft rock/punk style, but not really all that punk.  I like it, but it is quite awful.

It's an odd take, I'll say that much.  I like the Scissor Sisters, I just don't know if I really like that cover.
