And now Super Fly Jimmy Snuka (see how many of you remember him) is being charged with murder in the US.

Sad to hear, always enjoyed watching him although I don't think I ever saw him win a match.

He was a huge star in the early-mid 1980s. Battled Bob Backlund for the WWF world title in a memorable cage match. He is also remembered for his cage match against Magnificent Muraco and for his feud with Rowdy Roddy Piper following the coconut attack.  There had been rumors of him being involved with an old girlfriend's death for years (he had a serious drug addiction problem too)....maybe it was more than rumors...

Dean Ambrose is far and away my favorite of the current roster.

In the 80s, early 90s, I was a bigger NWA/WCW fan than WWF fan. I miss 1990s WCW and I miss the 1980s Jim Crockett NWA even more. Now don't get me wrong, I loved the WWF in the 1980s too what with Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man, and Andre the Giant on top and wrestlers like Paul Orndorff, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, Ravishing Rick Rude, and Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig consistently around but NWA offered better in-ring wrestling more consistently, WWF had better characters arguably but it's best wrestling tended to be around the Intercontinental title.

Vince McMahon and the WWE heads don't want us to remember the fact WCW was in fact at one point better and more successful than them...Ted Turner essentially just did what Vince did, he bought up all the talent he could and even stole talent from Vince just as Vince had stolen and bought much of his talent from the AWA and NWA and Stampede Wrestling in the 80s and 90s.

The AWA was so good in the early 1980s too, yeah I think it was better than the WWF then too. By the mid-1980s, a lot of the AWA's best talent were scooped up by Vince and Crockett and it was never quite the same again as it had been before then.

I recall how cool, over, and bad-ass the Road Warriors were back in the day.
