Quote from: zombie no.one on March 29, 2025, 03:46:31 PMwhat about those 70s 'government paranoia' type movies like 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR and MARATHON MAN... do they have a modern day equivalent?

Conspiracy Theory (1997) comes to mind. Another is Shooter (2007). There are others but they don't spring to mind right now.

Poliziotteschi

Poliziotteschi (Italian: [polittsjotˈteski]; sg. : poliziottesco) constitute a subgenre of crime and action films that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s and reached the height of their popularity in the 1970s.

Sword-and-sandal, also known as peplum

Though I guess last year's Gladiator II falls into that category.

Those are probably a subset of the larger genre of "dance fad" movies. They had them for the twist and the lambada too. Who knows, there could be some dance craze in the future that inspires more.

There's a South African stoner comedy called BORDERING ON BAD BEHAVIOUR where three soldiers on opposing sides who are wanting to kill each other become friends overnight because of a bag of shared weed  :bouncegiggle: : wink:

i feel like a lot of anti-school/teacher movies were popping up in the 70s and even later into the 90s, but i havent seen ANY of those in recent years! stuff like rock n roll highschool. i guess its not as acceptable to show a school blowing up in america these days
