Death Leopard

This one is pretty close:



Night Creature (1978) about a black panther, which is technically a leopard, but only in Asia or Africa. In the Americas, it is called a black jaguar. However, a black panther or black jaguar is not a separate species. Leopard-like spots can be made out in the black fur, but only if you get close enough.

Anyway, the movie is pretty bad.

I actually saw Night Creature at the theater in my pre-teens. It wasn't very memorable (or scary), except for the torches-lit showdown. I bought the 'public domain' (it was copied from either TV or VHS, I assume) DVD in the 2000s. For a when-animals-attack movie, it was very bland, slow and boring.
