I used to have Helloween and Heathen on vinyl. Then again, I used to have a lot of stuff that has gone missing over the years. :bluesad:

I had Keeper of the Seven Keys Parts 1 & 2 on cassette back in the 80's.  While they definitely had talent, I always ended up just putting in some Iron Maiden instead.

Torgo, How about if I post video of Maiden covering Helloween?
Would that make you happy?

Well, I'm going to see Megadeth on October 6th in Nofolk VA at the Norva theater.  Never seen them before live though it's been a life long wish to see some incarnation of Megadeth at some point live.

This was one of my favorite metal albums of 1987.

That is one of my favorite albums of all time. In fact I am wearing a Savatage shirt with that artwork right now.

interesting., the first sabbath album I heard was Heaven and Hell, and it's stil probably my favourite. I didn't like ozzy osbournes voice at first but it has grown on me over time...

also I will say that I was never into death metal back when it kind of started, but recently some newer death metal acts have made albums that I think really push the envelope and are amazing.

Brodequin - Methods Of Execution (2004)
Human Mincer - Embryonized (2002)

these are incredible albums I would recommend these to everyone. death metal has definitely progressed from its kind of primitive beginings IMO

edit: one D/M band I do like from back a bit is Bolt Thrower, anyone heard of them?

I haven't heard from them in ages, but then again, my musical taste has changed dramatically in the past few years

Bolt Thrower's Warmaster is excellent. I wouldn't really call them death metal...more like war metal I guess.

I used to be friends with a guy that was a big Bolt Thrower fan. Can't say that I remember what they actually sounded like but the name rang a bell in my memory.

7) Queensryche

I'm glad to see Queensryche make the cut here.  I really liked them in the early 90's.  "Lady Wore Black" is an awesome song, imo.

And PS: Caught Megadeth a few years back at Oz Fest in Raleigh...they were one of the reasons I wanted to go that year.  Good show, if you have not seen them before.

Their best albums IMO are 1986's "Rage for Order", 1988's "Operation: Mindcrime" and 1990's "Empire".  They started to slip with 1994's Promised Land and pretty much didn't release anything decent again until the recent "Operation: Mindcrime 2".
But their earlier stuff is quite amazing.

Agreed.  "Rage for Order" and "Operation: Mindcrime" were the two I gave the most airplay.

I do still like "Lady Wore Black" and of course, they played "Suite Sister Mary" to death on Headbanger's Ball (good song, though...).
