We're entering the fall rainy season. It signals 5 more months of bad weather.

The calendar may say it's approaching mid-November, but it feels like February in South Africa out there.

Cold turn here in the Deathlands of Kansas.

I mean, the highs are reasonable for fall, but the nights make me want to turn the heat on. Personally, I find it more fun to burrow under a blanket and drowse during movies.

Deathlands? Cool name! Sounds like something out of Tolkien. "Take the Ring, Frodo, through the shadow of the Deathlands..." So where are these "Deathlands" of which you speak?

I call all of Kansas "Deathlands", but the real Deathlands would actually be in Western Kansas, which is similar to Western Oklahoma. It is mostly flat and barren, and you get that gawd-awful red clay when you get closer to the Okie border. In that area at night, you will see a town/city in the distance. You think it is just up the road. Nearly 20-30 minutes later, the lights aren't any closer. Evil place.
